Are you looking to run your own equity L/S book? This is a rare chance to do this from day 1.

Our client is a firm launched in the past five years who are now building out an equities desk in Queensland, Australia. They're looking for a Senior Trader to run it from the ground up, with the backing and support of a co-founder who has personally generated billions in profits in the industry.

The strategy is capital-committed and launching in six months. You'll be trading a live book with full ownership from day one. Developing alpha signals, refining portfolio construction and risk, and improving execution. The direction is completely yours.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years trading L/S equities strategies with live capital.
• Background in a hedge fund, prop trading firm, or institutional asset manager
• Strong Python and systematic modelling capability
• Deep understanding of equity markets, portfolio construction, and risk management
• A relentless drive to improve investment performance

What you'll own

• Alpha signal development and research
• Portfolio construction and risk allocation
• Execution quality and transaction cost efficiency
• Model stress-testing across changing market regimes
• Research infrastructure that compounds over time

Everything is measured by one outcome: does it improve long-term P&L?

Compensation

• Total package: AUD $300,000–$400,000, depending on experience
• Bonus: Profit-share
