Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team. We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking radiographer to to lead the educational needs of the Radiotherapy department. You will have experience and evidence of health education and be a motivated and experienced Therapeutic Radiographer withexcellent communication and leadership skills as well as innovative ideas to drive professional development in a fast-paced radiotherapy department.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing technical, clinical and organisational development of the Radiotherapy service by embedding expert training and education systems within the Radiotherapy department.To work with site and area specific experts within the department to ensure that all clinical and other competencies are clearly recorded.To be involved with the recruitment and selection of all clinical staff up to Band 6, in order to assess their learning needs and aspirations and have ownership of induction to the department.To lead on both bespoke and generic induction, probation and training plans for new and existing staff members, meeting individual and service need.To represent the department at Trust, regional and national meetings as required, especially relating to training, education, funding and professional development.To support direct clinical delivery (treatment and planning) as may be required due to fluctuations in service capacity, patient demand and available staffing.To liaise with the University education providers to ensure a suitable environment is in place and monitored for student placements and to lead the Practice Educators Team.

  • Master's degree (MSc) in a relevant subject, or substantial accredited Master's level (Level 7) study equivalent to MSc level learning.
  • Degree in Therapeutic Radiography/Diploma of College of Radiographers with specialist experience and courses.

  • Ability to lead and manage treatment delivery teams
  • Knowledge/Experience of modern Radiotherapy
