Is this job info correct?

Bring your critical care instincts, procedural confidence, and patient-centered focus to a nursing role where assessment, precision, and teamwork directly shape outcomes . UVA Health’s Interventional Radiology team offers experienced RNs the opportunity to practice in a highly specialized environment where imaging-guided procedures, advanced technology, and collaborative care come together every day. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys a fast-paced procedural setting , values strong physician and technologist collaboration, and wants exposure to a broad range of minimally invasive interventions. You will support patients across the full procedural continuum , from pre-procedure assessment through sedation monitoring and recovery, while developing deep expertise in one of healthcare’s most dynamic specialties. The Role As an Interventional Radiology RN, you will care for patients before, during, and after image-guided procedures using modalities such as CT, fluoroscopy, x-ray, and ultrasound . This role is ideal for nurses who thrive on clinical variety, strong assessment work, and the ability to anticipate patient needs in a high-throughput procedural environment. In an average day, you may support patients undergoing procedures involving PICC lines, central lines, tunneled lines, dialysis catheters, abscess drains, nephrostomy tubes, cholecystostomy tubes, and endovascular interventions involving arteries, veins, clots, and thrombolytic therapies. No two days are exactly alike, and the pace keeps your skills sharp. The strongest candidates often bring ED or ICU experience, strong assessment and critical-thinking skills, comfort with higher-acuity patients, and an interest in building or expanding procedural and sedation nursing expertise . Key elements of the role include: Assessing and preparing patients for procedures, including vital signs, IV access, procedural readiness, patient history, allergies, NPO status, cardiac rhythm, and relevant risk factors. Providing intra-procedure nursing support, including sedation administration and monitoring , vital sign documentation, and continuous patient assessment. Collaborating closely with interventional radiologists, technologists, and procedural team members to support safe, efficient, high-quality care. Monitoring patients in recovery for bleeding, complications, sedation response, and post-procedure readiness. Providing patient education and ensuring a safe transition following procedures. Working in a Monday-Friday core schedule with full-time 36-hour or 40-hour options, including potential schedules of three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. Participating in call, typically 2 to 3 call shifts every six weeks , with a 30-minute response radius requirement or the ability to remain on-site while on call. Why UVA Health At UVA Health, Interventional Radiology nurses practice within an integrated academic health system where complex care, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration are part of the daily environment. This is a place where experienced nurses can grow clinically while contributing to care that is highly specialized, technically advanced, and deeply patient focused. UVA Health offers a strong foundation for nurses who want more than a routine bedside role. Here, you will find: A Magnet-recognized nursing culture that supports professional practice, shared governance, and clinical excellence. The opportunity to work in a radiology environment known for advanced imaging technology and technical innovation . Exposure to a wide array of interventional radiology procedures, including vascular interventions, oncology-related procedures, trauma-related care, and other complex image-guided treatments. Access to professional development pathways, nursing research, quality improvement, recognition programs, and clinical career growth. A team-based procedural model where nurses work closely with physicians and technologists from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. A highly specialized role that strengthens skills in sedation, patient monitoring, rapid assessment, procedural readiness, and recovery care . A meaningful opportunity to join a team experiencing continued procedural growth and patient demand. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. This role is especially compelling for RNs who enjoy the urgency and clinical judgment of ED or ICU nursing but are ready to apply that expertise in a procedural specialty with predictable core scheduling, diverse case mix, and ongoing skill development.
