Position Overview: As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, the Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive patient care under the guidance of a Physician and the Nurse Supervisor. The RPN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, ensuring it is evidence-informed, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, person-centered, and recovery-oriented. The RPN collaborates closely with healthcare professionals in a safe and secure environment, ensuring quality care for patients undergoing treatment for mental health and addiction challenges. Much of the RPN’s role involves direct interaction with patients, fostering therapeutic relationships and support. Registered Psychiatric Nurses may encounter exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and other safety hazards. Additionally, they may face potentially violent or aggressive situations when working with patients. Key Responsibilities: Assessing patients' psychiatric states to determine their needs. Collaborating on the development and implementation of psychiatric intervention plans. Administering psychotropic and related medications while monitoring their effects. Ensuring adherence to non-medicinal treatment regimens. Identifying and removing potentially harmful or triggering environmental factors. Documenting patients' health journeys and reporting significant changes. Conducting targeted psychoeducation sessions to enhance understanding and coping strategies. Performing general nursing duties related to the treatment of addiction and mental health.
