General Job Start: 01 October 2026 Location: Könneritzstraße 47, 04229 Leipzig, Germany Contract: part-time / full-time (40 hours / week), fixed-term, leave cover This position is a leave cover and, at this stage, will run until 31 July 2027 at the latest. I t is essential that the successful candidate has substantial and proven experience in the field of University Admissions and Careers Guidance . This experience will be critical to ensuring continuity, maintaining the quality of service, and enabling the candidate to assume the responsibilities of the role effectively from the outset. In our secondary school about 470 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams. Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools’ Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Your tasks and responsibilities Providing Career Guidance Provides guidance about career choice, employment, training and further education opportunities to the students and their families Assesses personal characteristics, skills and interests of students via individual interviews and/or group work shops Reviews career goals with students and helps them follow the proper track to reach their goals Provides advice on CVs, applications and interview techniques Keeps up with registration deadlines of higher educational programmes and supports students in their application process Fosters effective professional relationships with officials for German university entry, for work experience, with universities globally, and with other counsellors in international schools, to share and develop best practice Produces displays and multimedia information tools Participates in the Pastoral programme of the school Hosts information sessions for parents/guardians and joins parent information meetings on school section transition, providing information about options beyond LIS Informs parents/guardians regularly with progress and developments from the Careers Office via a monthly letter For the coordination, attendance in school during certain times of school holiday breaks is imperative (for examinations and results / follow-up university administration and counselling) Leading the Alumni Programme Maintains a network and communication with former students and families Organises reunions for alumni members Arranges networking events Promotes the alumni community to current students Provides content for an alumni newsletter as part of the school’s magazine Observer Strategic planning for the direction of the alumni programme Manages the budget for the alumni programme Responsible for the alumni website and online community Your profile University degree in education or in a related field Experience in the field of University Admissions and Career guidance Experience of operating events and project management Must be able to work independently, take initiative and oversee a variety of projects simultaneously Expected to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads Possess a high level of professionalism and maturity Excellent communication skills – these should include active listening, alongside aptitude for verbal and written communication Analytical skills – including the ability to take someone’s interests, experience and preferences, alongside your knowledge, and develop considered suggestions The ability to motivate people Analyses problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions The ability to challenge situations and to change things for the better Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings Fluency in the English and German language Experience of working in an internationally-minded and diverse school community is preferred Sensitivity to multicultural and gender issues and support for diverse and underrepresented populations What we offer A vibrant, diverse, and supportive school community.
