THE COMPANY
Immaterial Ltd is an advanced materials and technology company focussed on accelerating the energy transition. We are designing and delivering novel solutions for our customers, using our unique metal-
organic framework materials that deliver the most effective carbon capture and hydrogen storage systems.
Our ambition is to bring to the world these new technologies that meet the pressing climate challenges, and we will do this by recruiting individuals who are up for the challenge and want to make a difference.
THE OPPORTUNITY
To be part of a growing team of scientists and engineers who develop novel porous materials and design the systems for carbon capture, and hydrogen storage that use them.
A range of industries and customers urgently require these decarbonisation solutions. At Immaterial, we want to deploy novel and commercially compelling systems in these markets and are looking to recruit a talented engineer with experience of adsorption who can help us accelerate that journey.
In return we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and the opportunity for significant personal growth as our company grows.
THE CANDIDATE
An accomplished senior engineer with knowledge and understanding of gas adsorption processes
and experience of process design and simulation.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently on the design and development of
gas adsorption systems. With a detailed knowledge and understanding of gas adsorption, they will
be able to analyse and interpret experimental data, build novel mathematical and computational
models, and design and optimise high-performance swing adsorption systems (PVSA/TSA).
Collaborative teamwork is essential, as you will play a pivotal role in advancing innovative materials
and the associated systems.
This is an important role in a growing team, as such Immaterial are willing to support a visa
application for high-quality candidates wishing to relocate internationally.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
• A PhD in adsorption process engineering or a related discipline, or at least four years of
postgraduate experience.
• Good knowledge of gas adsorption, adsorption kinetics, and separation technologies.
• At least 5 years experience (which may include the PhD) in design and modelling of gas
adsorption systems gained in an industrial or academic setting.
• A good understanding of the use of novel adsorbents (MOFs, zeolites) in gas adsorption systems.
• A good understanding of materials properties data (isotherms, breakthrough etc) and the ability
to interpret and use them correctly.
• Experience of process simulation and design tools, such as gPROMS, Aspen Adsorption, and
COMSOL.
• A team player with strong customer focus, with excellent communication and influencing skills,
able to interact effectively with science, engineering and other colleagues.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Experience with materials characterization techniques including gas uptake measurements,
dynamic column breakthrough, and ZLC.
• Experience designing, building and operating custom adsorption rigs
