Our client, Glencore Mount Isa Mines is seeking an experienced Senior Asset Management & Reliability professional to join their Asset Management and Reliability function within their Queensland Metals Operation.


This is a great opportunity for a senior reliability or asset management professional to provide technical leadership across fixed plant and mobile equipment, supporting the development, governance and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies across the operation.

The Role

Working within the Asset Management and Reliability function, you will provide technical direction and leadership across maintenance strategy, reliability improvement and asset management practices.

You will work closely with maintenance, planning, operations, engineering, condition monitoring and project teams to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, lifecycle cost outcomes and operational performance.


A key component of the role will be providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and technical support to Reliability Engineers and other team members, helping build capability and establish consistent asset management and reliability practices across the business.

This role is suited to a practical reliability or asset management professional who can balance technical standards, operational priorities, risk, cost and equipment performance, with the ability to influence stakeholders and turn reliability analysis into practical outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the development, review and optimisation of maintenance strategies across fixed plant and mobile assets.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to Reliability Engineers and other team members.
  • Support asset management and reliability improvement initiatives across the operation.
  • Review maintenance strategies, failure modes, task content, inspection frequencies and maintenance intervals to ensure they remain practical and risk-based.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, planning, operations, engineering, condition monitoring and project teams to identify and resolve reliability issues.
  • Lead and support bad actor reviews, repeat failure investigations, defect elimination and maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide governance and support for systems including SAP PM, Isograph Availability Workbench, condition monitoring systems and other reliability tools.
  • Ensure maintenance strategies align with equipment criticality, site conditions, operational requirements, safety obligations and lifecycle cost principles.
  • Provide clear, practical recommendations to supervisors, superintendents, managers, planners, engineers and maintenance teams.
  • Contribute to maintenance budget development, asset lifecycle planning and reliability improvement priorities.
  • Promote consistent asset management standards, work management practices and reliability processes across fixed and mobile maintenance areas.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, technical discipline, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Experience Required

  • Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering, asset management, maintenance strategy, maintenance engineering or a similar senior role within mining, heavy industry, processing, manufacturing or a comparable environment.
  • Sound understanding of maintenance strategy development, RCM/FMECA principles, failure modes, equipment criticality and risk-based maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, influence or provide technical direction to engineers, planners, maintainers or cross-functional teams.
  • Practical understanding of fixed plant and/or mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Proven ability to investigate equipment failures and translate findings into practical maintenance, reliability and operational improvements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across maintenance, planning, engineering, operations and senior site leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and sound engineering judgement.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and make practical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational discipline and continuous improvement.
