Job Summary AIUSA’s Campaigns, Education & Individuals at Risk Unit leads the organization’s priority human rights Campaigns and crisis response efforts, the organization’s work to free people from unjust detention, and human rights education efforts, Our mission is to make human rights impact and build the human rights movement’s people power. Our Campaigns are intended to make a real difference in peoples’ lives as a step toward transforming our world to one in which all human rights of all people, everywhere, are respected, protected, and fulfilled. The Amnesty movement defines a Campaign as a highly focused, time-bound, and winnable project, strategically planned, coordinated, and communicated to achieve an explicitly defined external objective. The organization’s Campaigns use a range of tactics and a high concentration of human and operational resources. AIUSA’s Campaigns can be on any human rights topic, issue, or case, in the US or globally. Advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) are at the heart of our Campaigns and everything we do. The Senior Campaign Manager will serve as a key thought partner to the National Director of Campaigns, Education and Individuals at Risk in developing and winning AIUSA’s Campaigns . In this fixed-term role, the position will help develop and deliver AIUSA’s Campaign to Defend Freedom of Expression and Peaceful Protest, with a focus through the 2026 U.S. midterm election on defending the right to vote. In general the position has four primary responsibilities: Campaign Design and Strategy: ensure that AIUSA’s Campaign Teams design effective Campaign strategies, including theories of change, in collaboration with stakeholders using campaign strategy tools, data and objective analysis; Project Management and Leadership: ensure the highest level of project management and teamwork to deliver the successful implementation of those Campaign strategies to make human rights impact; Innovation and IDEA: ensure that creative, innovative, and effective grassroots activism and stunts are included in each Campaign and that IDEA is fully integrated into all aspects of the organization’s Campaigns to help AIUSA become a bigger, bolder, and more inclusive movement and; Evaluation, Support and Training: develop the strategic campaigning skills of members and staff and by putting systems in place to support campaigning. This is a fixed term position for seven months. Essential Responsibilities Campaign Strategy & Design Manage campaign topic selection, objectives, and tactics; lead the development of effective campaign strategies, including credible theories of change, with cross-departmental collaboration and stakeholder input Guide teams to set and pursue SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely) campaign objectives that advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) Supports team to: select a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely(SMART)objective for each Campaign to achieve, and that also advances inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) create and implement a sound and effective strategy to achieve the Campaign objective, using strategic campaigning tools, data analysis and campaigning best practices, in collaboration with stakeholders select, implement, and evaluate effective tactics within the Campaign strategy, including grassroots activism, public education, and creative stunts Innovation, Inclusion & Partnership Integrate creative, effective grassroots activism, public education tactics, and stunts into campaign plans; embed IDEA into all campaign components to support a more inclusive movement Build impactful relationships with coalition partners and stakeholders at national, local, and international levels to expand influence and win campaigns Develop activism and advocacy materials for campaigns, including toolkits, educational resources, and other written or digital materials Represent the campaign at AIUSA’s Regional Conferences (Fall 2026) and AGM (Spring 2027), including weekend travel and work, which can include developing and delivering plenaries, workshops, actions, trainings, and activist engagement Evaluation, Learning & Skill-Building Ensure monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) best practices are integrated across all campaigns, collecting relevant data, analyzing results, and embedding learnings for continuous improvement Develop and deliver skill-building resources, training, and best practices for members and staff to build organization-wide campaigning capability Share campaign results and lessons-learned both internally (staff, board, members) and externally (coalitions, public); adapt practices for future impact When required, conduct advocacy with government and/or serve as campaign spokesperson Project Management Manage and support, as relevant, the implementation of campaign strategies by teams to deliver results and achieve strategic goals Foster strong teamwork, collaboration and communication between departments, ensuring team members uphold standards and participate in continuous learning Support National Director on crisis response efforts as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications & Success Profile To succeed in this role, candidates must bring both the technical expertise to execute the work and the interpersonal and behavioral competencies that align with AIUSA's mission-driven, collaborative culture. Develops effective campaign strategies with measurable objectives that advance specific human rights priorities through integrated tactical plans Creates comprehensive implementation plans incorporating diverse tactics and testing frameworks to achieve defined campaign goals Successfully leads campaign teams and adapts approaches based on evaluation data and changing political contexts Education and Experience BA/BS and at least 7 years relevant experience or MA/MS and 5 years relevant experience and/or sufficient relevant work experience Experience planning and winning strategic campaigns on human rights issues Experience leading diverse teams in the development and implementation of impactful campaigns, including the creation of effective strategies and the implementation of effective grassroots activism tactics and creative stunts, and designing campaigns that helped grow and diversify a grassroots base and that advance IDEA Demonstrated success in leading teams in developing, testing, and evaluating innovative, creative, and effective campaign tactics, including grassroots actions and stunts Experience using digital tools including email, SMS, social media, and data analytics to achieve campaign victories that attract new AIUSA members Experience working cross-organizationally with managers of other units including Communications, Government Relations and Organizing staff High level experience lobbying government officials and as a spokesperson with media and the public Expertise with human rights issues and international law, including US issues strongly preferred Spanish fluency preferred This is a fixed term position for seven months.
