About the Financial Services department The Financial Services (FIN) department supports effective strategic financial management across the Bank and provides sound accounting and financial reporting for the Bank and its related entities. The department is responsible for the accounting, financial management and reporting of the Bank as a corporate entity, and its two pension plans. In support of the Bank’s fiscal agent role, the department is also responsible for certain accounting and financial reporting for the Government of Canada. FIN promotes strong financial management and governance while leading the modernization of finance systems, processes, and business practices to drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and innovation across the department and the Bank. About the position Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Director, Financial Operations provides strategic leadership to a diverse team of experienced professionals responsible for accounting, payment operations, corporate travel services, external financial reporting, the internal controls framework, accounting standards and tax compliance, as well as Finance Transformation and Systems. What you will do The role oversees the delivery of core financial operations and the modernization of FIN's systems and business processes to ensure effective, efficient and resilient financial services. The Senior Director is responsible for maintaining sound financial management practices, strengthening governance and controls, and supporting the Bank's business objectives. What you need to succeed As the ideal candidate, you are an inspiring leader with outstanding financial and accounting expertise and an in-depth understanding of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and related business practices. You have significant experience applying accounting standards, financial governance, and reporting practices within a complex organization. You also bring a successful track record of leading large teams, managing operational complexity, and delivering organizational change. You are a strategic thinker who leads through influence, sound judgment, and collaboration. Comfortable operating at both the strategic and enterprise levels, you bring an informed point of view, contribute actively to broader departmental and Bank priorities, and engage confidently with senior leaders and stakeholders. A skilled partnership builder, you excel at bringing people together around common objectives and navigating competing priorities. You lead with integrity and foster an environment where people can grow, contribute, and perform at their best. Beyond technical expertise, you are a proactive and engaged leader who brings energy, initiative, and a strong sense of ownership. Naturally curious, action-oriented, you anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and mobilize people toward results. You balance strategic thinking with pragmatic execution, build trust through collaboration and active listening, and know when to step into the details and when to empower others. Your education and expe rience This position requires a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in providing relevant senior advice and leadership within an organization or a government/Crown corporation. Language requirement The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 10 to 15% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (10%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay. Flexible and comprehensive benefits so you can choose the level of health, dental, disability and life and/or accident insurance coverage that meets your needs. An Enhanced Benefits Program for Senior Officers, which allocates an additional $5,000 that can be applied toward supplementary benefits or be paid out to you in cash.
