Role Definition The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Motor Grader Ground Engaging Tools, including cutting edges, end bits, ripper points, and associated wear components. The role applies advanced engineering principles, virtual product development tools, performance simulation, wear modeling, and validation methodologies to deliver solutions that improve customer productivity, wear life, durability, manufacturability, and total owning and operating costs. Key Technical Responsibilities Lead design and development of Motor Grader Ground Engaging Tool (GET) components including cutting edges, end bits, ripper points, shank protection systems and wear packages. Develop solutions that improve machine productivity, penetration performance, wear life, serviceability and customer value. Perform structural, fatigue, performance, and wear simulations to support design decisions and reduce physical validation cycles. Utilize Virtual Product Development (VPD) tools to predict stress, durability, material behavior, and wear characteristics under various customer applications. Develop and validate wear-performance models using field data, laboratory testing, and simulation results. Analyze system interactions between blade, cutting edge, moldboard and ripper systems to optimize performance and life-cycle cost. Evaluate alternative materials, heat treatments, casting, forging and wear technologies to improve product performance. Support prototype builds, laboratory testing, field validation and production implementation. Lead root-cause investigations for field issues using analytical, simulation and test data. Technical Excellence & Innovation : Knowledge of mining applications, Ground Engaging Tool (GET) systems, wear technologies, and engineering methodologies; ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges while improving customer value, product performance, durability, and cost competitiveness. Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of engineering tools (Creo, Teamcenter, ANSYS, DEM, Wear Simulation) and techniques of parametric design, simulation, and knowledge-based engineering; ability to design, analyze, simulate, validate, and optimize Ground Engaging Tool (GET) systems throughout the product development lifecycle. Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
