About the Job: The Senior Exploration Geologist will report to the Exploration Manager and is responsible for support program design, field execution where appropriate, integrated geological interpretation, target generation and advancement, reporting, and mentorship of junior team members. The role will advance orebody knowledge across the broader Kensington district by integrating drilling, mapping, sampling, structural interpretation, assays, geochemistry, and 3D models, and by translating that work into clear implications for exploration strategy, resource confidence, geologic risk, and long-term growth opportunities. The schedule for this position is 15 days on at the remote mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 13 days off, or the schedule for this position can be, if residing in Juneau; 4 days on at the remote mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 3 days off. Responsibilities: Stop work for safety concerns, and abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures. Lead and support safe, compliant exploration programs in accordance with Coeur Alaska’s HSE policies, MSHA requirements, and site standards. Lead district-scale exploration planning, including target generation and ranking, program design, cost and schedule development, and alignment with Life of Mine and long-term growth strategy. Coordinate district-scale surface and underground exploration programs where appropriate, including mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging, contractor communication, drill tracking, and field logistics. Interpret district-scale geological models, maps, sections, assay results, structural data, geochemistry, and 3D datasets to improve orebody knowledge and support exploration decisions. Evaluate controls on mineralization, continuity, grade distribution, alteration, structure, geologic risk, and exploration potential, and translate interpretations into practical recommendations. Maintain high-quality geological data and reinforce consistent standards for data collection, interpretation, QA/QC, documentation, and reporting. Communicate exploration progress, geologic risks, orebody knowledge gaps, recommendations, maps, graphics, and technical summaries clearly to site and exploration leadership. Provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentorship to geologists, technicians, and contractors. Track costs, consumables, contractor performance, and field efficiencies to support budget discipline and continuous improvement. Work effectively across Exploration, Geology, Mine Operations, Technical Services, Environmental, and other site teams to support safe execution, district-scale interpretation, and reporting. Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications & Skills: Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in others. Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related geoscience discipline or equivalent. Minimum of 7-10 years experience in mineral exploration experience. Strong field and technical exploration skills, including mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging, geological interpretation, target generation, and the ability to connect observations to orebody understanding. Experience designing, executing, and managing drilling, soil geochemistry, or other exploration field programs. Experience integrating deposit- to district-scale geological models, maps, sections, structural interpretations, geochemistry, and 3D datasets to support orebody knowledge, resource confidence, target generation, and exploration strategy. Demonstrated ability to lead district-scale exploration thinking, recognize regional to camp-scale patterns, develop testable concepts, and advance growth opportunities beyond immediate underground extensions. Ability to interpret mineralization controls, continuity, grade distribution, alteration, structure, and geologic uncertainty, and communicate implications for exploration priorities, resource models, and mine planning decisions. Knowledge of precious metals exploration, underground gold systems, structurally controlled mineralization, vein-hosted deposits, and relevant ore-forming processes. Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, community responsibility, and disciplined field execution. Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, influence without direct authority, and build capability through coaching and knowledge sharing. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Post-graduate degree specializing in exploration, mineral deposits, structural geology, economic geology, or a related field. Previous exploration experience in underground, orogenic gold systems, intrusive related systems, structurally controlled deposits, or Alaska/Southeast Alaska environments. Experience using Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGas, acQuire, and related geological or geochemical software platforms. Preference given to Alaska residents. Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to safely perform work in a mining environment, including, but not limited to: Working outdoors in a range of environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, wind, cold temperatures, and periods of limited daylight. Frequent standing and walking on uneven surfaces on surface and underground. Climbing stairs, ladders, and escapeways. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds often and up to 70 pounds on occasion, pushing and pulling equipment or materials up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Employees must be able to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when applicable, work in varying environmental conditions, and participate in emergency response and evacuation procedures. Mine Site Information: The Kensington Mine is located within the historic Berners Bay Mining District, a region with deep mining roots that date back over a century. The mine site is a remote camp located approximately 45 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. Transportation to and from the mine site happens twice per day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon) and takes approximately 1.5 hours each way. To get to the mine site, employees board a bus in Juneau that transports to the Yankee Cove dock (~30 minutes), then board a boat (~45 minutes), then board another bus to the camp area (~15 minutes). Food and housing is provided on-site to employees. Rooms are dormitory style with two twin beds, a TV, and storage for your personal belongings.
