This Senior Industrial Engineer role will help build and scale a production system as the organization moves from early production into broader commercialization. The role is focused on making manufacturing capacity measurable, identifying and removing constraints, designing efficient production layouts and work cells, and creating repeatable production processes that can scale as volumes increase. This is a hands-on position requiring substantial time on the manufacturing floor working directly with technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain capacity models across production areas, including demonstrated versus theoretical capacity, station-level cycle times, labor content, production constraints, and achievable production rates.
  • Conduct time studies and work measurement to establish credible labor standards, understand work content, identify bottlenecks, and improve production balance.
  • Design and revise manufacturing layouts, work cells, workstations, and material-flow paths to improve productivity, reduce unnecessary movement, and support future production-rate increases.
  • Analyze production constraints and develop practical improvements that increase throughput, reduce cycle time, and improve utilization of labor and equipment.
  • Partner directly with production technicians and manufacturing teams to understand actual shop-floor conditions and ensure engineering models reflect physical reality.
  • Help establish scalable production processes as products and manufacturing methods continue to evolve from prototype and early production toward higher-volume manufacturing.
  • Maintain and improve manufacturing routings, standard times, and production data used for planning, costing, and scheduling.
  • Support material-flow improvements, including point-of-use material presentation, WIP control, kitting strategies, and other production-control methods appropriate to the manufacturing environment.
  • Use value-stream mapping, root-cause analysis, continuous-improvement methods, and production data to identify and validate operational improvements.
  • Develop manufacturing metrics and reporting around throughput, labor efficiency, utilization, cycle time, WIP, and other key production indicators.
  • Evaluate the effect of engineering and configuration changes on labor content, layout, capacity, and production flow before changes reach the manufacturing floor.
  • Support cost modeling and capital justification for workstations, tooling, material-handling equipment, and other investments required to improve production performance.
  • Help develop repeatable manufacturing standards, visual management practices, and production-system processes as the operation scales.

Required Skills:

  • Significant industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or closely related experience within a physical manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience personally owning capacity analysis, production-rate modeling, cycle-time/work-content analysis, constraint identification, and/or line balancing in a manufacturing operation.
  • Hands-on experience designing or modifying manufacturing layouts, work cells, workstations, and production flow using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, NX, SolidWorks, or an equivalent platform.
  • Experience supporting production in a low-volume, high-complexity, NPI, ramp-up, or prototype-to-production environment where manufacturing processes were still being developed or changed.
  • Strong shop-floor orientation with demonstrated ability to work directly with technicians and production teams, gather accurate manufacturing data, and implement changes in a live production environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in Cedar Park, TX and travel approximately 10% to Milford, OH.

Preferred Skills:

  • 6+ years of industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience implementing pull systems, kanban, supermarkets, min/max inventory, kitting strategies, point-of-use material presentation, or WIP controls.
  • Experience working with ERP or MES systems, including routings, standard times, BOM structures, production planning data, or manufacturing-system implementation.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, EV, robotics, power generation, industrial equipment, semiconductor equipment, medical device, or other complex electromechanical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with precision electromechanical assembly, rotating or reciprocating machinery, high-voltage systems, engines, generators, propulsion systems, or other complex mechanical/electrical hardware.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing tools such as value-stream mapping, standard work, kaizen, 5S, A3 problem solving, or changeover reduction.
  • Experience with manufacturing analytics using advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
  • Experience with discrete-event simulation tools such as FlexSim, Simul8, AnyLogic, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing cost models, labor models, capital-equipment justifications, or manufacturing investment business cases.
  • Experience working in AS9100, ISO 9001, DoD, or another regulated/high-consequence manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma, APICS CPIM, PMP, ergonomic-assessment training, or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Exposure to additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing technologies.
