Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

UC Business School | Te Kura Umanga, University Of Canterbury, Invites Applications For a Continuing Position At Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Level In Accounting. Suitable Applicants Will

  • Teach Management Accounting and other related areas
  • Have an interest in the not-for-profit sector (including public sector accounting and management)
  • Conduct scholarly impactful research
  • Engage in service-related activities.

The role involves actively contributing to the research profile of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems through the pursuit of a programme of impactful research; high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; curriculum development; postgraduate research supervision; engaging with external stakeholders; and contributing to departmental and university service.

You Will Be An Enthusiastic And Committed Academic Who Brings Strong Disciplinary Expertise, a Collegial Mindset, And a Passion For Learning And Discovery. You Will Have

  • A completed PhD in Accounting
  • Demonstrated potential or a proven record of publishing in high-quality, internationally recognised journals.
  • Strong skills in Management Accounting, with the ability to teach across levels and in related areas including public management and governance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, enabling effective teaching and engagement with students.
  • A commitment to high-quality, student-focused teaching, innovative pedagogies, and continuous improvement.
  • The ability and willingness to supervise postgraduate research students.
  • A collaborative approach and readiness to contribute positively to departmental service and collegial activities.

The Department of Accounting and Information Systems is one of three departments of the UC Business School. The department's programmes are CA ANZ, CPA Australia, ACCA, and CIMA accredited. UC Business School is accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA and is known nationally and internationally for innovative, student-centric learning and cutting-edge research. The Department has over 25 highly motivated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Senior Lecturer $119,586 p.a. - $149,806 p.a.
