Senior Process Engineer – Packaging

Location: South Dublin / Wicklow

Salary: Up to €80,000 DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

About the Role

Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer – Packaging to join their manufacturing operation in South Dublin/Wicklow. This is a fully onsite position within a high-volume, automated manufacturing environment where you'll play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and technical performance across packaging operations. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of technicians while acting as the subject matter expert (SME) for fully automated, high-speed packaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of technicians, providing day-to-day technical support to production and maintenance teams
• Act as the technical expert for automated, high-volume packaging equipment
• Drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) performance
• Lead structured, data-driven investigations into process issues and equipment failures
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce waste and improve quality
• Review and optimise preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment uptime and reliability
• Work closely with material suppliers to ensure compatibility between materials, equipment and manufacturing processes
• Support the introduction of new equipment and manufacturing processes, ensuring robust validation and successful handover into production
• Lead Quality Notification (QN), Customer Complaint and CAPA investigations
• Manage engineering change controls, ensuring compliance with documentation and approval requirements
• Develop and deliver technical training programmes for engineering technicians
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety requirements through appropriate risk assessments
• Ensure full compliance with Quality Management Systems and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Conduct performance reviews, set objectives and manage employee development and attendance processes
• Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the level of the role

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years' Process Engineering experience within manufacturing.
• Previous people management or team leadership experience, or the demonstrated capability and ambition to lead technical teams
• Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment (regulated manufacturing experience is highly desirable).
• Strong experience working with automated manufacturing or packaging equipment.
• Proven technical problem-solving ability with a track record of delivering improvements in:
• Overall Equipment Effectiveness
• (OEE)Waste reduction
• Product quality
• Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Strong analytical skills with experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma.
• Experience improving preventative maintenance programmes and equipment reliability.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including:
• Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
• Continuous Improvement methodologies

Desirable:

• Practical knowledge of packaging equipment and packaging processes.
• Experience with equipment validation within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of change control processes and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
