What you will be doing: In this role, you’ll be a key member of the Quality team, undertaking product inspections throughout the build process in accordance with relevant Inspection and Test Plans, processes and procedures. Working with a high degree of autonomy , you’ll use your technical knowledge and inspection skills to verify product quality, identify and record non-conformances, and support their resolution. Depending on your discipline, your responsibilities may cover areas including Pipe/Mechanical, Structural/Steelwork, Non-Destructive Examination (Weld Inspection), Receipt Inspection. Core duties: Leading product safety and quality inspections throughout the Build and Test & Commissioning phases, ensuring products meet the required standards and are safe, compliant and fit for purpose Delivering routine and complex inspections with a high degree of autonomy , playing a critical role in the successful build, performance and reliability of major platform components Capturing, analysing and evaluating inspection results and outputs, using findings to drive compliance and maintain conformance with the Reactor Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) Contributing to process reviews and continuous improvement initiatives , identifying opportunities to strengthen inspection processes, improve efficiency and enhance overall product quality Verifying and maintaining component information within SAP, ensuring accurate system records and full traceability throughout the product lifecycle Applying SHE policies and procedures in all inspection activities, proactively identifying hazards and implementing appropriate controls through risk assessments, COSHH assessments and other relevant safety processes Your skills and experience: Qualified to apprenticeship level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline Relevant experience within a pipework, mechanical or reactor engineering environment is highly desirable Demonstrable experience in inspection activities, with a strong understanding of quality, compliance and technical requirements Willingness and ability to work shifts, including night shifts, in line with operational requirements PCN/CSWIP Welding Inspection certification is desirable; where not currently held, there is a requirement and willingness to obtain the relevant certification Experience and working knowledge of SAP and Teamcenter, with the ability to accurately manage and verify technical and component information Benefits: As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans and a wide range of flexible benefits. The Quality Team: As a Senior Reactor Quality Inspector, you will be in a blended production and office environments, working autonomously, with major equipment alongside engineering teams and involvement in coaching activities. The Quality team plays a vital role in ensuring products are built to the required standards and that Quality is embedded throughout the manufacturing and delivery process.
