European applicants are welcome Reblade is a Danish tech startup founded in 2020, developing automated wind turbine blade repairs . We design and build drone-based robotic systems that utilize computer vision, sensors, and cloud software to deliver accurate and efficient operations and reporting workflows for some of the world’s largest wind energy operators. Our team consists of highly skilled engineers within robotics, mechanical engineering, control systems, embedded systems, computer vision, and software development. The majority of our employees have relocated from all over the world to Denmark, creating a strong international culture of autonomy, technical excellence, and collaborative innovation. The Role We are looking for a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join our software team and take ownership of critical components of our robotics platform. You will work across ROS2, embedded systems, hardware integration, flight-control software, and safety-critical functionality. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of features — from concept and architecture through development, verification and validation, field testing, and deployment. You will work closely with the broader engineering team to integrate hardware and software, solve complex control and state-machine problems, and continuously improve the reliability and performance of the system. Key responsibilities: Develop and maintain ROS2 nodes and packages in Python (and C++/Rust where needed) across LEO's module software Own hardware abstraction layers for motor, sensor, and camera integration — consolidating drivers and retiring interim hardware where native integration is cleaner Harden flight-controller integration ( ArduPilo t/ MAVLink bridge ) and safety-critical failsafe, comms-loss, and emergency-stop logic Extend LEO's ROS2 architecture within approved design constraints, including sensor fusion and new hardware/vendor integration Diagnose and fix control-loop and state-machine issues across module packages, including safety-critical field-surfaced bugs Build out simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing infrastructure, and strengthen CI/test coverage for safety-critical code Support field validation, debugging, and performance/timing tuning on constrained embedded compute Own full feature lifecycle — concept → development → V&V → field deployment — with a review gate after each stage, following the Development Guide Requirements Must-have Strong professional experience developing robotics software using ROS2 . Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of C++ and/or Rust . Experience with embedded systems and hardware-software integration . Hands-on experience integrating sensors, actuators, cameras, or similar hardware components. Solid understanding of robotics architectures, control systems, state machines, and real-time or timing-sensitive applications. Experience with flight-control platforms such as ArduPilot , MAVLink , PX4 , or similar. Experience with automated testing, simulation, CI/CD, or hardware-in-the-loop environments. Strong troubleshooting skills across software, electronics, and system integration layers. Nice-to-have Experience developing hardware abstraction layers, drivers, or middleware. Experience working on autonomous systems, drones, or field-deployed robotic platforms. Familiarity with safety-critical or high-reliability systems. Experience with Rust in production environments. What we offer A hands-on engineering role with significant ownership and opportunities to work alongside leading engineers Remote freelance contract within EU with access to the same benefits and policies as on-site team members, or relocation support to Denmark (available for EU and non-EU citizens) 25 vacation days and covered sick leave
