Senior Web Application Developer - Facilities & Services Job Summary Under general direction, this position leads the design, development, and modernization of complex enterprise web applications that support Facilities & Services. The role provides technical leadership, supports architectural decision-making, and collaborates across teams to deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable application solutions. Duties & Responsibilities Application Development & Architecture • Lead the design and development of complex Java-based applications and services within a multi-tier architecture. • Define and support application architecture, design patterns, and development standards to promote consistency and maintainability. • Design and oversee integrations across enterprise systems using APIs and service-oriented approaches. • Support modernization initiatives, including transitioning legacy applications to modern frameworks such as React. • Ensure application scalability, reliability, security, and performance across all system components. Technical Leadership • Support and mentor developers, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development across the team. • Facilitate code reviews and promote best practices for application development and system design. • Contribute to technology evaluation and selection in alignment with organizational goals. Collaboration & Strategy • Partner with stakeholders to understand needs and help shape technical solutions. • Contribute to planning efforts and long-term application strategy. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Office Environment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years). Demonstrated experience in multiple programming languages such as Java (preferred), JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or similar. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, implementing data integration solutions, and supporting complex enterprise system integrations. Demonstrated experience designing scalable web applications. Demonstrated experience defining architecture and development standards Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and application servers such as Tomcat. • Experience leading front-end modernization efforts using React or similar frameworks. • Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. • Experience mentoring developers and supporting team growth. • Experience working with large-scale enterprise systems and modernization initiatives. • Experience developing and deploying applications in containerized environments and working with orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 9/14/2026. The budgeted salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 per year. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. This position is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization, except for sponsorship of a new H1B petition that would incur the $100,000 fee.
