🚀 Software Engineer | AI Agents | San Francisco
$180k–$250k base + equity
I’m working with a client, an early-stage AI company building the platform that runs autonomous AI agents inside some of the world’s largest enterprises.
They’re looking for a Software Engineer with around 3–5 years of experience who wants considerably more ownership than you’d normally get at this stage of your career.
This isn't a role where you'll be handed a backlog of tickets.
You'll help decide what gets built.
You’ll work across their platform used to build, deploy, monitor and optimise their AI agents as well as building agent implementations that ultimately run inside enterprise environments.
The ideal background:
• 3–5 years in software engineering
• Genuine experience building AI agents in production
• Strong backend engineering skills
• TypeScript experience would be particularly useful
• AWS/GCP, containers, Kubernetes or production deployment experience
• Comfortable owning problems without waiting for detailed requirements
• Product-minded — able to think about what users actually need, not just how to implement it
• Early-stage/startup experience is a big plus
You don't need experience with every part of their stack.
They're much more interested in engineers who understand how agents behave in the real world where they fail, how you make them reliable and how you operate them in production.

The team is still small, so the architecture decisions made by the next engineers could remain part of the core platform for years.
