The Microsoft Turing team is an innovative engineering and applied research team working on state-of-the-art deep learning models, large language models, and pioneering conversational search experiences. We build the core systems behind Microsoft 365 Copilot, a groundbreaking AI assistant used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Our work brings state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) into production at true enterprise scale, transforming how organizations work every day. As a Software Developer II, you will have opportunities to design, build, and evolve production systems that power AI experiences at scale, collaborating closely with engineers and applied scientists to translate cutting-edge advances into robust, scalable, and reliable products. Our collaborative feature crews tackle challenges such as: Designing and developing advanced AI capabilities, including container execution and image generation. Building the core orchestration and runtime systems for Microsoft 365 Copilot. Engineering systems that enable multimodal, real-time, and agentic interactions. Building AI-driven computer and tool-use capabilities for enterprise-scale production environments. Recent launches, such as the Analyst agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, highlight the breadth of problems we solve across the stack. The Microsoft Turing team is a unique blend of engineering and research excellence, pushing the limits of large-scale deep learning on Microsoft’s world-class distributed training infrastructure. Software engineers and applied scientists partner closely to turn cutting-edge research into production-ready systems used across the company. This position is based in Bangalore and requires the employee be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Responsibilities AI-native development: Use AI tools across the SDLC in a disciplined way, and own the quality of AI-generated changes by reviewing everything before it ships. Write production-quality code: Build extensible, maintainable, low-defect features with minimal supervision, applying coding patterns, security best practices, and reuse where appropriate. Raise the bar in code review: Review peers' code and tests for coverage, standards, security risks, and compliance — giving timely, coaching-oriented feedback. Contribute to design and architecture: Explore and evaluate design options, help author design documents, identify cross-team dependencies, and ensure designs meet performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost goals. Own test strategy and quality: Create test plans that prevent regressions, cover security invariants and negative cases, close coverage gaps, and leverage AI for test automation. Drive engineering excellence and secure deployment: Automate build and deployment toward zero-touch, follow safe deployment and rollback practices, and run experiments with feature flags to measure impact. Support the live site: Serve on-call as a DRI, mitigate incidents within SLA using least-privilege access, run retrospectives with repair actions, and improve telemetry, TSGs, and monitoring. Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience. Additional or preferred qualifications Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
