Software Engineer (all genders) React / React Native

THE ROLE & THE TEAM We at Module Store, are a horizontal platform team that owns the Zalando Design System (ZDS), Central Accessibility (A11y), and the central module repository. Our mission is to build scalable products and tooling that empower our technical teams across the organization to ship features faster, consistently, and with high reusability. As a Software Engineer (all genders), you will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of Zalando’s design standards and technical infrastructure. You will work on central UI libraries, automation tools, AI toolings and scalable architecture using technologies such as Typescript, React, and Node. This role is fundamental in driving the continued adoption of the design system and providing the building blocks that enable both designers and engineers to deliver superior user experiences at scale. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING) Build and maintain our central React-based component library for mobile and web based products Deliver high-quality code with performance, accessibility, maintainability and stability as the primary focus Collaborate closely with experienced engineers, designers and product owners Elevate our shared processes and tools to support a large number of teams working on a diverse array of products Drive the adoption of our Design System across the company Document and evangelize best practices for UI development, accessibility and Component usage Serve as a technical advisor to other engineering teams and leadership Partner with the core platform teams to deliver core architecture of the web framework Make a positive impact on our growing tech community WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF Must have: Strong expertise in React You thrive on collaboration, working side by side with people of all backgrounds and disciplines You are capable of working both collaboratively and independently. You care about code quality and have a passion for building a high-impact, well-performing developer experience. You have a passion for improving developer and designer workflows You have a curious mind and enjoy keeping up to date with the latest technologies You bring a systematic approach to problem-solving Excellent written and verbal communication skills Solid foundation of core front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS) Good Knowledge of cross-platform browser compatibility restrictions and requirements Good knowledge of Unit and Visual testing strategies and frameworks like React Testing Library, Jest and Playwright Knowledge of Typescript would be a plus Comfortable working with Node.js Plus: Experience with React Native Big Plus: Extensive experience in developing and maintaining Design Systems with a strong focus on accessibility (A11Y) OUR OFFER Zalando provides a range of benefits, here’s an overview of what you can expect.
