## About the Role
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Mission Payload Chief Systems Engineer to support Space Superiority and Imaging Systems in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
The role focuses on the design, development, integration, testing, and delivery of space-based visible and infrared remote sensing payload systems. The successful candidate will have significant experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, complex system design and testing, and technical team coordination.
L3Harris' Wilmington organization specializes in space-based visible and IR payload systems incorporating integrated electromechanical devices for microradian-level line-of-sight pointing and focus control.
## Key Responsibilities
* Lead requirements development and requirements traceability activities.
* Develop test plans to verify system and product requirements.
* Perform technical analysis and manage engineering specifications.
* Generate design review documentation and other technical deliverables.
* Conduct design trades to support technical decisions.
* Lead major design reviews, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).
* Lead integration and testing of electro-optical and infrared systems and associated hardware and software.
* Lead product testing, design verification, requirements sell-off, and end-item data package activities.
* Support and lead data analysis, modeling, and simulation activities.
* Evaluate space vehicle and customer requirements to help define system performance requirements.
* Coordinate technical parameters and ensure compatibility across physical, functional, and program interfaces.
* Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical and program risks.
* Mentor and support the development of a growing team of Systems Engineers.
* Contribute to proposal development and related business development activities.
* Support program planning, technical guidance, and execution.
* Coordinate technical teams and contribute to successful mission payload development.
## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
* Minimum of 12 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
* Significant experience with systems engineering processes.
* Direct experience designing and testing complex systems.
* Experience coordinating technical engineering teams.
* Ability to analyze system requirements and technical interfaces.
* Experience with system integration, testing, verification, and technical documentation.
* Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Graduate degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
* Experience with space-based remote sensing systems.
* Experience with visible and infrared optical payload systems.
* Experience with electro-optical and infrared systems.
* Experience with integrated electromechanical systems.
* Experience with spacecraft or space vehicle systems.
* Experience with modeling, simulation, and technical data analysis.
* Experience leading PDR, CDR, integration, and verification activities.
* Experience mentoring Systems Engineers.
* Experience supporting technical proposals and program planning.
