The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers’ portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems. The Capability Development and Transition team requires a part-time Engineer for System Engineering, Space Vehicle Systems, and payload assembly integration and test. This work would include providing the government team with in-factory oversight of critical space vehicle assembly, integration and test activities, providing technical reports and recommendations to the government program office. The selected candidate will be required to work part-time remotely, and occasionally on-site at our facility in Gilbert AZ. This is a part-time casual position with limited hours. What You'll Be Doing Responsible for collaborating with the government and prime and sub-contractors for oversight of critical assembly, integration, and test activities Ad hoc system engineering on classified systems would be anticipated as part of the position. Provide Aerospace technical expertise to SSC/AATS FILL IN THE BLANK ORG. Rapidly respond to government requested support for test monitoring, reporting or onsite meeting attendance What You Need to Be Successful Minimum Requirements – Retiree Casual III : BS degree from an accredited program in Physics, Engineering, or a related field 25 or more years of progressively responsible experience in Space Vehicle R&D, Do No Harm, systems analysis, and space vehicle systems engineering Comfortable working with, and reporting directly to, executive management and key stakeholders Availability to travel domestically Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government . U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
