Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health care within our Community Mental Health Team. As a Specialist Community Mental Health Nurse, you will work with individuals experiencing complex mental health needs, providing assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions and ongoing support within community settings. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Full-time, Permanent
  • You will be based at Rossdale Resource Centre,12 Haughburn Road Pollok, Glasgow G53 6AB
  • Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake holistic assessments, risk assessments and develop personalised care plans for individuals with complex mental health needs
  • Act as Named Nurse or Care Coordinator, providing specialist mental health interventions and ongoing review of care
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic approaches and recovery-focused interventions that promote wellbeing and prevent relapse
  • Build effective therapeutic relationships with patients, carers and families, ensuring care is delivered with dignity, respect and compassion
  • Administer, monitor and evaluate prescribed treatments and medications in accordance with professional and organisational standards
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues and partner agencies to coordinate comprehensive packages of care and support
  • Provide leadership, supervision and support to nursing colleagues, healthcare support workers and students while contributing to service improvement and clinical governance

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC Level 1 registration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Specialist knowledge of mental health nursing practice, risk assessment, recovery approaches and physical healthcare needs within mental health services
  • Knowledge and application of relevant legislation, professional standards and values-based practice including the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act and NMC Code
  • Experience of working within community mental health services and managing complex caseloads
  • Experience of care coordination, multidisciplinary working and partnership working with patients, carers and external agencies
  • Strong communication, leadership, decision-making and organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously and support the development of others
