Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a dedicated School Nurse to join our Children and Families Service, where you will play a vital role in supporting school-aged children, families and communities. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to work autonomously while collaborating with education, health and social care partners to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care. You will help drive positive outcomes in areas including emotional health and wellbeing, child protection and transitions. As part of NHSGGC, one of the UK's largest NHS organisations, you'll be supported to develop your career while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people across our communities.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Part-time, Permanent
  • You will be based at Pollok Health Centre
  • Working Pattern: Wednesday - Friday

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate a caseload of children and young people, assessing, planning and evaluating programmes of care
  • Deliver focused and targeted interventions for vulnerable children, young people and families across key priority areas
  • Undertake specialist assessments and contribute to the development and review of Child's Plans using the GIRFEC framework
  • Lead and coordinate care pathways relating to emotional health and wellbeing, child protection and transitions
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency partners to improve health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and support to members of the school nursing team and students
  • Promote health improvement and reduce health inequalities through education, support and early intervention initiatives

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • First level NMC registration with Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification in School Nursing or Public Health Nursing
  • Current registration on Part 3 of the NMC Register
  • Experience of working with children, young people, families and communities within a community or public health setting
  • Knowledge of GIRFEC, child protection legislation, national public health priorities and relevant clinical guidelines
  • Excellent communication, assessment and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations
  • Experience of multi-agency working, care planning and coordinating support for children and families with additional needs
  • Commitment to continuous professional development with the ability to work independently and lead within a multidisciplinary team
