Job Description Summary As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing GE Vernova Grid Software's mission of enabling a more sustainable, resilient, and reliable energy future. You will lead and mentor multiple Scrum teams responsible for the development, modernization, and sustainment of mission-critical Grid Software products that support power system operations worldwide. This role requires strong technical leadership to drive execution across both legacy and contemporary technology platforms, balancing product innovation with the long-term reliability and maintainability of existing solutions. You will partner closely with architects, product management, engineering leaders, and power systems experts to define technical strategy, accelerate delivery, and enable successful transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise, experience managing high-performing global teams, and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges across C++, Java, modern full-stack frameworks, cloud technologies, and enterprise architectures. This position offers the opportunity to influence product direction, develop engineering talent, and drive the evolution of Grid Software solutions that are critical to the future of global energy systems. Job Description Responsibilities Provide technical and people leadership for two Agile Scrum teams , driving execution excellence, engineering quality, and predictable delivery of Grid Software products. Define and drive the technical vision, architecture strategy, and technology roadmap across both legacy and contemporary product portfolios. Lead key architecture and design decisions , ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business objectives. Drive modernization initiatives, balancing investments between sustaining mission-critical legacy applications and adopting modern cloud-native architectures. Oversee development of enterprise-grade software solutions using C++, Java, microservices, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, and containerized platforms . Champion engineering best practices including Agile development, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Partner with architects, product managers, power system domain experts, and global engineering teams to translate customer and utility requirements into effective technical solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous learning across teams. Drive software quality, performance, reliability, and scalability through architecture reviews, code quality initiatives, and engineering governance. Build and develop high-performing engineering teams through hiring, talent development, succession planning, and career coaching. Lead technical risk management, dependency management, and execution planning across multiple concurrent product initiatives. Promote a culture of operational excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement while delivering strategic outcomes for the Grid Software portfolio. Desired Characteristics Proven technical leadership experience leading multiple software development teams in a product engineering organization. Strong background in software architecture, distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native application design, and modernization of enterprise platforms . Hands-on understanding of technologies including C++, Java, Kubernetes, Docker, DevOps toolchains, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms . Experience balancing the needs of legacy product sustainment and modernization , driving architectural evolution without compromising customer commitments. Demonstrated ability to make strategic technology and architecture decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and long-term product viability. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, design patterns, quality engineering, security, and performance optimization. Experience leading Agile teams and scaling engineering execution through Scrum, SAFe, or similar frameworks. Knowledge of power systems, transmission operations, EMS, SCADA, grid applications, or utility software solutions is highly desirable. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to align technical and business priorities. Strong passion for talent development, team building, technical mentoring, and creating an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related STEM discipline. 12+ years of software engineering experience , with significant experience in technical leadership and people management roles. Demonstrated experience leading multiple Scrum teams and delivering complex enterprise software products. Proven expertise in software architecture, system design, technical strategy, and large-scale product development. Experience with C++, Java, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, microservices architectures, and DevOps practices . Prior experience in Grid Software, Energy Management Systems, Utility Applications, Industrial Software, or related domains is preferred. Additional Information Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes
