Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has opening for a Sr. Principal Weapon Stores Management Subsystem Responsible Engineer at our Melbourne, FL campus and will be based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule means you will get every other Friday off. This position has NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORK AVILABLE . This position requires a Program Security Clearance to be obtained prior to starting in the role. The selected engineer will perform as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a key effort to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of stores management subsystems, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to design, develop, build, and test stores management subsystems in conjunction with key suppliers. Essential Functions: Lead and support development and integration of stores management subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications Lead and support functional and performance analyses Lead and support detailed trade studies Lead and support risk analysis and developing mitigation plans and tracking to closure Collaborating with other disciplines, product teams and program stakeholders Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support Identifying/planning/executing informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshooting hardware in the lab Identifying/planning/executing aircraft ground and flight test on subsystems to validate and verify subsystem requirement and sell-off Lead and support technical discussions with the customer and have daily interaction with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub teams Guiding the team through development/implementation activities. A successful Sr. Principal Weapons SMS Responsible Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams, consistently brings up concerns, issues and risks to program and technical leadership and holds the team to a high level of technical rigor. Basic Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering. Experience in Weapons Integration or developing Stores Management Subsystems Experience in decomposing, deriving, allocating and tracing requirements from system to component level Knowledge of MIL-STD-1760, Universal Armament Interface (UAI), Common Functional Weapon (CFW), and MIL-STD-1553. Experience in hardware/software integration of embedded systems Must have Active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner Experience with working on a multidisciplinary team and writing technical proposals Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills 6+ years of direct experience in the development of SMS subsystems 3+ years of technical leadership experience Experience in air-launched weapon/weapon systems development and testing. Past work implementing UAI or participating in UAI IPT meetings. Familiarity with weapon data link concepts. Experience with scheduling engineering activities Experience with Agile development Experience in supplier/subcontract management Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence) Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review Experience in the development of real-time embedded software Active or Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance #AS-FA3 Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
