Take the next step in your career with us! Position Specific Description Position Specific Description We are seeking a Sr. Tax Counsel to become a member of our State Tax Planning team. Our in-house tax department is a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have a background in state income tax planning, controversy and/or M&A transactions and will be comfortable modeling the cash and U.S. GAAP tax treatment of transactions. Job Overview Employees in this job drive value by providing support to the organization with respect to tax aspects of pending acquisitions, dispositions, financings, reorganizations, restructurings, and joint ventures, with a view to optimize taxes. Job Duties & Responsibilities Manage all aspects of various worldwide tax projects, including analyzing relevant tax law for tax planning transactions; working with foreign and domestic tax advisors to understand relevant tax rules; partnering with multiple business units to understand both domestic and foreign tax implications; and reviewing financial models to illustrate the tax consequences of various alternatives Work with Governmental Affairs, Investor Relations, and Communications to promote the Company's legislative priorities and assist with communications Communicate complex technical tax issues to Senior Management and internal/external stakeholders Negotiate, draft and review tax provisions in deal documents Prepare and review technical tax memoranda Manage and develop team members Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Juris Doctorate Experience: 8+ years Member in Good Standing of State Bar Preferred Qualifications LLM - Master of Laws NextEra Energy offers a wide range of benefits to support our employees and their eligible family members.
