As the Staff AI Scientist, you will focus on exciting generative vision, text, speech, time-series, and multi-modal problems related to segmentation, object detection, large-scale generative models, large-scale pre-training, prompt tuning, distillation, robustness, responsible AI, quantization, etc. Job Responsibilities: * Lead the entire lifecycle of AI solution development, from ideation and research to prototyping, implementation, and deployment within GE Healthcare products. * Conduct independent research into novel AI and machine learning algorithms, particularly in areas relevant to medical imaging, patient monitoring, and clinical decision support. * Develop, train, and validate sophisticated machine learning models, ensuring high performance, robustness, and clinical relevance. * Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical experts, software engineers, product managers, and regulatory specialists, to translate research into impactful product features. * Mentor junior AI scientists and contribute to the growth of the AI team's technical capabilities and best practices. * Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals, and represent GE Healthcare at industry events. * Evaluate and integrate external AI technologies and frameworks to enhance internal capabilities. * Ensure the ethical and responsible development and deployment of AI solutions, adhering to healthcare regulations and standards. Basic Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent field plus 4 years AI development for industrial applications in a commercial setting OR Ph.D. in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent field plus 1 year AI development for industrial applications in a commercial setting. Demonstrated expertise in developing scalable AI tools. Implementation experience with a variety of high-level languages (e.g. Python) and frameworks and tools such as DeepSpeed, HuggingFace, Megatron, PyTorch lightning, etc. Experience with high-dimensional imaging data and waveform/time-series data. Experience with synthetic data or diffusion models A desire to be hands-on and help invent the future of next-gen AI in Healthcare! Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related quantitative field. 8+ years of experience in AI/Machine Learning research and development, with a strong publication record in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, MICCAI, AAAI, KDD) and journals. Expertise in deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages (e.g., Python). Demonstrated ability to lead complex AI projects from conception to production. Proven experience with large-scale data processing and analysis. Strong understanding of statistical modeling, algorithm design, and data structures. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience in the healthcare domain, particularly with medical imaging (e.g., CT, MRI, X-ray), physiological signals, or electronic health records, is highly desirable. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices is a plus. For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $147,840.00-$221,760.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
