About the Role As a Staff Mechanical Engineer at ARX Robotics, you are a technical leader who will elevate our mechanical design and integration capabilities. You will take charge of complex, cross-functional projects, guiding the integration of various robotic subsystems into robust, unified platforms that meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Your role is central to our mission, bridging the gap between subsystem development and holistic vehicle architecture. You will own the mechanical integrity of our platforms, making critical design decisions and ensuring that our cutting-edge technology is built to thrive in the world’s most demanding environments. This is an opportunity to shape the physical foundation of our autonomous systems from concept to production and beyond. What You'll Build Lead the mechanical design and integration for our advanced robotic platforms, ensuring a seamless fusion of all subsystems. Architect and oversee the creation of complex 3D CAD models, from high-level vehicle layouts to detailed component designs. Drive projects with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and validation engineers, to deliver on key customer and program requirements. Serve as the technical authority for mechanical systems, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, weight, durability, and serviceability. Solve our most complex mechanical challenges with a hands-on, analytical approach, driving solutions from concept to implementation. Champion compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks, including the Machinery Directive and CE marking processes. Apply agile project management principles to plan, track, and deliver critical mechanical milestones across multiple workstreams. Create and maintain world-class technical documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and production drawings. What You Bring A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. A decade of proven experience in a senior or technical lead role focusing on the mechanical design of complex systems in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or a comparable industry. Expert-level skill in 3D CAD modeling (we use Autodesk Inventor, but deep expertise in any major platform is valued). A strong track record of leading engineering projects through all phases, from initial design to production release and in-field application. Direct, hands-on experience with metal fabrication processes (sheet metal, CNC machining, welding) and design for manufacturing. A collaborative leadership style and the proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve complex mechanical problems in a fast-paced environment. Experience with agile project management for hardware development and familiarity with tools like Jira. A solid understanding of regulatory and certification requirements, particularly the Machinery Directive and CE marking. Fluency in English is required, and German language skills are a significant plus. Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further. What We Offer Join a mission-driven European defense tech company at a pivotal stage of growth, where you can help shape meaningful technology, take ownership early, and grow with the business! Competitive compensation package including a bonus opportunity 27 vacation days to start, increasing with tenure up to 30 days Employer-supported pension contribution Learning & development support and team events budget Employee discounts and flexible benefits budget via Probonio Hybrid working setup depending on role and team needs Structured salary bands, levelling framework, and bi-annual development conversations Referral bonus program, dog-friendly office, and relocation support where applicable About Us ARX is a dual-use technology company that specializes in developing autonomous unmanned systems and sensors for the European defence sector. Our dual-use unmanned ground systems and sensors assist NATO Armies and civilian first responders in tackling their most challenging problems by providing them with training and information to make better decisions and take effective actions in life-or-death situations. As our team continues to expand rapidly, we are seeking motivated candidates who are excited to work in a highly energetic, creative, and innovative team dedicated to developing autonomous systems for challenging environments.
