Staff Platform Engineer – Agent Productivity

My client is a Series C Start up having raised over $300m so far. Their product is the leading AI platform for documentation, coding, and clinical workflows, built to reduce administrative burden and protect revenue integrity at the point of care.
Trusted by top health systems across North America, the platform is live across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient settings, supporting more than 100 specialties with real-time, coding-aware documentation. The platform integrates directly with Epic, Oracle Cerner, athenahealth, and other major EHRs.

What we're looking for:
We need a Staff-level engineer with 7+ years of experience in developer productivity, platform engineering, or internal tooling who has built systems that engineers actually adopt and love. You should be comfortable operating as a technical lead in a highly ambiguous, zero-to-one environment and have a track record of driving cross-team impact through infrastructure that accelerates engineering velocity. Bonus points if you have experience with agentic AI coding tools and working in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech).
What you'll do:
- Own the entire developer-productivity substrate— dev environments, build/test workflows, CI/CD, verification systems, and internal tooling
- Harden the dev box experience for engineers working with Claude Code and other AI coding agents
- Build automated verification systems for agent-generated PRs that give reviewers structured evidence to trust AI-assisted code
- Replace bespoke scripts and tribal knowledge with paved-road workflows (CLIs, scaffolds, templates, codegen, migration helpers)
- Design scoped, auditable ways for agents to access internal systems (local DBs, GitHub, CI, logs) while keeping PHI and production data controlled
- Collaborate closely with all engineering teams to drive AI enablement and create playbooks that make both engineers and agents maximally productive
- Establish guardrails around AI agent usage to prevent runaway costs and ensure responsible, efficient use of coding tools
- Lead and eventually grow a small team of senior engineers as the agent productivity function scales
Role requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering with developer productivity or platform focus.
- Built developer productivity/platform/CI systems adopted by engineers.
- Zero- to- one project experience in ambiguous environments.
- Tech lead experience driving cross- team technical decisions.
- Healthcare or regulated- industry engineering experience.
- Bachelor's in CS, engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Has built CI/CD, build and test systems, verification infrastructure, and internal developer tooling.
- Uses agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex daily and has done AI- enablement or playbook work.
- Strong backend/platform skills in TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust or any other modern OOP language.
- Communicates clearly with strong clarity of thought and influences and collaborates effectively across teams.
- Thrives in ambiguity and stays proactive and self- directed when handed a broad problem.
- Willing to work from SF office 3x/week (hybrid).
