THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE The External Financial Reporting team in the CFO division is looking for a Statutory Accountant based out of Milton Keynes. You will join a team responsible for preparing the quarterly earnings release (the QMS), UK and US Annual Reports and Half-Yearly Financial Reports, as well as internal-use quarterly financial statements for Santander UK Group Holdings plc, Santander UK plc and Santander Financial Services plc, including coordinating the other departments who contribute to and review the documents, as well as the external auditors and legal advisors. We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for: Producing significant parts of the UK Annual Reports and Half Yearly Financial Reports, with a focus on designing, planning, populating, and reviewing the Risk review, working with Risk and other Divisions to ensure that all the data complies with applicable disclosure requirements, including IFRS 7, IFRS 9 and IAS 1. Producing the equivalent elements of the US Annual Reports on Form 20-F and Half Yearly Financial Reports on Form 6-K for US filing purposes. Producing the QMS and related Data Series. Maintaining the related pages of the external website. Providing CFO Division support for debt issuances, including reviews of draft prospectuses, and negotiation of engagement, management representation and comfort letters with external auditors, legal counsel and underwriters. Liaising with key stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop and improve their input into the statutory reporting processes, including senior management (Directors and Executive Committee), Banco Santander in Madrid, Other Finance teams, Other Santander UK teams, such as Risk and Legal, & external stakeholders, such as auditors and legal counsel. Identifying and implementing improvements, efficiencies and innovations to the statutory reporting process. Ensuring effective operation of internal controls over the statutory reporting process, including for Sarbanes-Oxley Act purposes. Managing some of the team members, including part-qualified staff. Professional Experience Experience of the UK public company reporting environment (Required) Great UK financial accounting and IFRS accounting experience, including practical exposure to IFRS in terms of preparing complex financial statements (Required) Experience of financial services (Preferred) Experience of SEC regulations, including inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL) (Preferred) Education A qualified statutory accountant (ACCA or ACA) or equivalent experience (Required) Hard Skills Solid IFRS technical accounting knowledge (Required) Great writing skills, suitable for inclusion in published documents (Preferred) Soft Skills Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with other teams (Required) Self-starter, with the ability to organise and manage team’s work to strict deadlines (Required) Attention to detail and persistence (Required) Flexibility in approach and working hours (Required) WE VALUE YOUR IMPACT At Santander, your contribution matters. Salary Range: £53,500.00 - £80,250.00 per annum (depending on experience) This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
