Job Description

  • Role: Structural Designer – Superyachts
  • Work location: Den Bosch area, the Netherlands
  • Start: As soon as possible
  • Duration: One year, with the possibility of a permanent position
  • Contract: Employment contract
  • Language: English required; Dutch would be an advantage
  • Focus: 2D AutoCAD, 3DX, hull construction, yacht outfitting and exterior structures

If your background is in shipbuilding, naval architecture, or marine engineering, this Structural Designer position near Den Bosch, the Netherlands, brings you close to both yacht engineering and construction. You will prepare 2D AutoCAD drawings for the hull, outfitting, and exterior structures, and work in 3DX as part of an international team where English is the main language. If needed relocation support is available.

Where You’ll Work

You will join the Shipbuilding Engineering Department at a shipyard where custom superyachts are engineered and built in-house. The department works closely with Mechanical Engineering, Interior Engineering, and the construction teams responsible for turning your drafts into finished yachts.

The construction halls are adjacent to your engineering workplace, allowing you to follow how your drawings are implemented during the build. Every yacht is different, giving you exposure to a broad range of structural, outfitting and exterior design challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate yacht design plans into clear and accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings.
  • Work in 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  • Prepare construction drawings for hull structures, outfitting and exterior components.
  • Develop technical details that provide the basis for fabrication and assembly.
  • Coordinate drawing interfaces with Shipbuilding, Mechanical and Interior Engineering colleagues.
  • Discuss technical details and practical construction questions with colleagues at the shipyard.
  • Follow the implementation of your drawings during construction and use feedback from the shipyard in your work.
  • Communicate technical information with engineering, construction, and crew representatives at the relevant stages of the project.

Profile

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Shipbuilding Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience preparing technical and construction drawings in shipbuilding or superyacht design.
  • Practical knowledge of hull construction, outfitting or exterior construction.
  • Good working knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
  • The ability to interpret design plans and translate them into clear, accurate working drawings.
  • A practical and accurate way of working, with the confidence to discuss technical details with engineering and construction colleagues.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Dutch language skills would be an advantage.
  • Experience with 3DX design software would be useful, but this can also be developed through the internal learning programme.

What’s In It For You?

  • A salary that reflects your experience, knowledge and responsibilities.
  • A fixed-term contract for one year, providing you with stability from day one and the clear intention of continuing your career with the client afterwards.
  • An attractive STIPP Plus pension scheme with a total contribution of 23.4%. You contribute 7.5%, while we cover the remaining 15.9%.
  • 8% holiday allowance, paid annually in May.
  • 40 vacation days per year, giving you plenty of time to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer for your commute.
  • Moving to the Netherlands? We'll support you throughout your relocation, including housing assistance, registration procedures and, where applicable, your 30% ruling application (tax benefit for expats).
  • The opportunity to work on technically challenging projects where your expertise has a real impact on the final result.
  • An international, English-speaking working environment where you'll collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • You will also have access to an internal learning programme, including the opportunity to develop your experience with 3DX yacht design.
  • Networking: life outside work also matters - that's why we enjoy spending time together through sports activities, team outings, our annual company party and other social events throughout the year.
