Position Summary Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Supplier Account Manager to join our Supply Chain Organization in Santa Clara, California. This individual contributor role serves as the primary owner of strategic supplier relationships and is responsible for driving supplier performance, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and long-term supplier development initiatives. The Supplier Account Manager is assigned to specific approved suppliers and serves as the primary point of contact, ensuring supplier capabilities, performance, and business objectives align with Applied Materials' operational and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities Own the overall relationship with assigned strategic suppliers and act as the primary commercial and business interface between Applied Materials and the supplier. Develop, align, and execute commodity and supplier management strategies that support business and operational objectives. Negotiate pricing, contracts, commercial terms, and long-term agreements to ensure competitive cost structures and optimal supplier performance. Lead contract management activities and maintain supplier agreements that define the framework for business relationships. Support raw material cost negotiations and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and continuity of supply. Build, maintain, and strengthen supplier partnerships through regular business reviews, performance management, and collaborative improvement initiatives. Act as the final escalation point for critical supplier issues affecting cost, quality, delivery, capacity, or lead times. Drive the resolution of systemic supply chain challenges, including coordination with internal stakeholders and supplier sub-tier partners. Collaborate with Product Lifecycle (PLC) teams to ensure sourcing and supplier strategies align with new product introductions and business requirements. Lead supplier onboarding, qualification, development, and disengagement activities as needed. Develop and present strategic cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier optimization opportunities to leadership. Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead corrective action plans to drive continuous improvement. Evaluate supplier capabilities, market conditions, industry trends, and potential risks to proactively support supply chain resilience. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Several years of experience in supplier account management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, procurement, supply chain, or related disciplines. Demonstrated experience negotiating pricing, contracts, terms and conditions, and supplier agreements. Proven ability to manage strategic supplier relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving measurable supplier performance improvements. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and relationship management skills. Functional Knowledge Demonstrates deep expertise in supplier management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, procurement, or supply chain operations. Applies advanced knowledge and best practices to improve supplier performance, processes, and business outcomes. Business Expertise Interprets internal and external business challenges and market dynamics to recommend and implement effective supplier strategies. Identifies opportunities to improve quality, cost, delivery, and operational efficiency. Leadership Leads functional teams, supplier initiatives, and cross-functional projects with moderate complexity and business impact. Influences stakeholders across operations, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier organizations. Problem Solving Solves complex supply chain and supplier performance issues using sophisticated analytical thinking and sound business judgment. Develops innovative solutions to mitigate risk and improve supplier effectiveness. Impact Directly impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project, and service objectives through effective supplier relationship management. Drives business results related to cost reduction, supply continuity, supplier performance, and operational excellence. Interpersonal Skills Builds strong partnerships across internal teams and the supplier community. Communicates complex business concepts effectively and negotiates favorable outcomes. Influences decision-making and gains alignment among diverse stakeholder groups. Preferred Qualifications Experience within the semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, or technology industries. Knowledge of commodity management, supplier development, procurement, and contract management practices. Experience with ERP, sourcing, and supply chain management systems. APICS, CPSM, ISM, or related professional certifications preferred. Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 20% of the Time Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
