SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator based in Sasebo, Japan.
The qualified candidate will provide systems and network administration support to a fielded command and control system. Embedded personnel are considered subject matter experts (SME), mission essential and deployable on any Regional Combat Command (RCC) exercises or operations that require the use of C2 Family of Systems. The FSET provides on-site technical support at the garrison and deployed locations where the C2 system operates. Embedded personnel must relocate to the country in which the system operates for a minimum of 1 year assignment. Personnel may receive housing, cost of living, and relocation allowances in addition to base salary. This role cannot be supported remotely.
Job Responsibilities
Installation of new hardware or software
Creating and managing user accounts
Maintaining computer systems such as servers and databases
Planning and properly responding to system outages and various other problems
May include light programming or scripting to make the system workflows easier.
Training computer users and assistants.
Requirement for Operation and Maintenance support is typically 5 days a week for each C4I FoS fielded system. Work hours in excess of 40 hours per week per person may be required during contingency operations (deployments or exercises), an alternate work schedule may be required to support 24/7 operations. Typical core hours are 0800 to 1700.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors and 2 years experience. (4 additional years experience accepted in lieu of degree)
Required Skills
Experience with virtualization, i.e. vmWare and ESXi.
Experience working in a Linux environment
Experience in a Systems Administrator role
Security+ certification
IAT Level II or above Certification in addition to Security+
Required Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. A minimum of Secret clearance will be required prior to first day of employment.
Required Travel
Must be willing to relocate to work site location if not a current resident for at least one (1) year. May include additional travel up to 20%.
