Teacher of Visually Impaired Children Portland - Congress St - Portland, ME 04101; Bath - Bath, ME 04530 Apply Overview Salary Range $47,000.00 - $76,000.00 Salary/year Job Shift Day Travel Percentage Up to 25% Apply Description The beautiful State of Maine has 2 Full-Time openings for a teacher of students with visual impairments. The positions are based out of the Portland and Brunswick areas. TVI's in Maine are itinerant and follow a school year calendar . The TVI's provide direct and consultative services to children with or without additional disabilities birth through age 21 or completion of high school. Services include instruction and consultation in all areas of the expanded core curriculum. We work in homes, daycares, public, and private schools. Though Maine is a geographically large and rural state, we have a very supportive community of TVI's in Maine, all who are employed by Catholic Charities Maine. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Benefits: Recruitment, Relocation & Retention Bonus totaling $5,000: $3,000 at hire (to support relocation) and an additional $2,000.00 after a satisfactory performance rating after 2 years' employment. They must be able to demonstrate strong braille skills or a willingness to develop those skills including UEB for technical. Knowledge of the implications of vision loss on education is essential.
