Requisition ID: 146670 Location: Category: Engineering Services Share this Job Why You Should Apply For This Job: The Engineering Cost & Equipment Modeling Department is responsible for providing project management, engineering planning, cost modeling, resource optimization, and financial governance support for Underground (UG) Operations and Projects. The Technical Expert, Underground Project Controls & Change Management serves as the Senior Manager's primary delegate, providing direct support for departmental activities and assuming leadership responsibilities during the Senior Manager's absence. This role ensures continuity of departmental operations, project controls, change management oversight, executive reporting, and stakeholder coordination to maintain effective support for Underground Operations and Projects. The Technical Expert role requires not only technical expertise, but also the ability to transfer knowledge to others within the organization in a multicultural environment. This position involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Indonesian and Papuan culture, as well as building relationships, solving problems creatively as a team, and effectively communicating in different styles. The Technical Expert must also have a continuous learning mindset, be patient, adaptable, and able to work in an environment where work and personal life mix. Additionally, a strong sense of collaboration, mentoring, coaching, questioning, and influencing skills are essential for success in this role. Additional Responsibilities: Project Controls Leadership Lead the development and implementation of project controls standards, procedures, and best practices. Establish and maintain integrated project controls systems for cost, schedule, progress, forecasting, and performance measurement. Ensure consistency in project controls processes across all Underground projects. Support the PMO in project governance, stage-gate reviews, and project assurance activities. Cost Management & Forecasting Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts. Develop and maintain project cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and earned value analyses. Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions to maintain budget compliance. Support annual budgeting, business planning, and long-range capital forecasting activities. Review and validate project estimates, budget requests, AFEs, and Supplemental AFEs. Schedule Management Develop and maintain integrated master schedules for major Underground projects. Monitor schedule performance, critical paths, float consumption, and milestone achievement. Analyze schedule impacts and recommend mitigation and recovery plans. Ensure schedule updates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project execution strategies. Change Management Lead the project's formal change management process. Review, evaluate, and document all scope, cost, schedule, and resource changes. Facilitate change review boards and obtain necessary approvals. Assess the business, financial, and operational impacts of proposed changes. Maintain a comprehensive change register and ensure approved changes are incorporated into project baselines. Risk Management Facilitate project risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities. Maintain project risk registers and monitor effectiveness of mitigation plans. Perform quantitative and qualitative risk assessments. Escalate significant risks and opportunities to project and senior leadership. Reporting & Executive Communication Prepare and deliver project performance reports for senior leadership. Provide management with clear visibility of project status, trends, risks, forecasts, and key performance indicators. Develop executive dashboards and project control metrics. Support presentations and project reviews with site leadership and corporate stakeholders. Resource & Performance Management Monitor project manpower, contractor resources, and equipment utilization. Support resource forecasting and optimization initiatives. Analyze productivity trends and recommend performance improvement opportunities. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Construction, and Supply Chain teams to ensure resource alignment. Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with company policies, project procedures, and financial governance requirements. Support project audits, reviews, and assurance assessments. Maintain proper project documentation, records, and control systems. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project controls and change management processes. Leadership & Team Development Lead and mentor project controls personnel, planners, schedulers, cost engineers, and project analysts. Promote a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement. Develop competency and succession plans for project controls personnel. Foster collaboration across project teams and functional departments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related technical discipline. Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in project controls, project management, construction management, mining operations, or capital project execution. Ten (10) years of experience in a supervisory or management role leading project controls, project management, planning, scheduling, cost engineering, or change management teams. Experience managing large-scale capital projects, preferably in: Underground mining Heavy industrial facilities Infrastructure projects Oil & Gas Large construction projects Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously within a matrix organization. Contracts management experience Proficient in Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project. Familiarity with InEight (or similar forecasting software), SAP, and reporting/analytics tools Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
