Technician - Electrical

Job Description Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Drafting Technician/Designer to support the planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure projects. The role involves the preparation, coordination, and management of electrical engineering drawings and design documentation for a broad range of airport facilities, including terminal buildings, airside and landside infrastructure, utility networks, substations, power distribution systems, lighting systems, communications infrastructure, and airport support facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with electrical engineers, airport planners, architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, ICT specialists, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop accurate and coordinated design documentation throughout all project phases, from concept design to detailed design and construction support. The individual will be responsible for producing high-quality drawings and models in accordance with project standards, client requirements, applicable electrical codes, aviation regulations, and industry best practices. The role requires strong proficiency in CAD and BIM platforms, a thorough understanding of electrical drafting principles, and the ability to coordinate effectively within complex airport environments. The candidate will contribute to airport expansion, modernization, rehabilitation, and greenfield development projects by supporting efficient design delivery, multidisciplinary coordination, quality assurance, and digital engineering initiatives. Your Role Prepare and maintain electrical engineering drawings and design documentation for airport facilities and infrastructure projects. Develop plans, layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, equipment arrangements, schedules, sections, elevations, and installation details in accordance with project requirements and industry standards. Support the preparation of drawings for medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, electrical rooms, and distribution networks. Ensure accurate representation of system configurations and engineering design intent. Develop drawings for internal and external lighting systems, including terminal buildings, car parks, access roads, utility areas, and airport support facilities. Assist in preparing lighting layouts, circuiting plans, mounting details, and associated documentation. Prepare cable routing drawings for power, control, and communication systems. Develop layouts for cable trays, conduits, trenches, duct banks, cable pits, and underground utility crossings while ensuring coordination with other disciplines. Support the drafting and coordination of airport utility networks, including electrical distribution corridors, substations, service tunnels, utility compounds, and associated infrastructure. Coordinate utility interfaces to minimize clashes and support constructability. Develop and maintain electrical BIM models and digital design deliverables in accordance with project BIM execution plans and digital delivery requirements. Support model development, coordination reviews, clash detection activities, and multidisciplinary integration. Collaborate with electrical engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, airport planners, ICT specialists, and other stakeholders to coordinate design interfaces and ensure consistency across all project deliverables. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, equipment schedules, cable schedules, panel schedules, installation details, and tender documentation packages. Ensure timely production of project deliverables in accordance with project schedules. Perform drawing reviews and quality checks to verify accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project standards, electrical codes, and client requirements. Support implementation of quality management procedures throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and document control systems. Update drawings and models in response to engineering reviews, design changes, client comments, and project requirements while ensuring proper version control. Incorporate existing utility information, survey data, as-built drawings, and site investigation data into design documentation. Ensure design deliverables accurately reflect existing airport infrastructure and project constraints. Support the development and implementation of drafting standards, BIM workflows, templates, and digital engineering processes. Contribute to continuous improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across airport design projects. Assist the Team leader/Senior Engineer in presenting design solutions in meeting with clients and contractors. About You Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. ITI / Diploma in Drafting trade or Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in drafting relevant deliverable. Experience in airport projects. Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit MEP. Familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D for coordination with Civils. Good understanding of ETAP, SKM Power Tools, Dialux Evo is a plus. Experience supporting airport design and aviation infrastructure projects. Utility coordination and underground services. BIM workflows and data management. Experience working on UK / Middle East / International aviation projects is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative BIM team. Knowledge of electrical design standards such as IEC, NFPA, or local regulatory codes. Knowledge of ACC / ProjectWise, Navisworks, and clash detection workflows. Exposure to scripting or automation (Dynamo, Lisp, etc.) is a plus. Familiarity with ICAO airport infrastructure requirements.
