Are you a creative problem whiz with strong logical skills? The Finance department is seeking students currently enrolled in a degree program who are interested in working year round. This is NOT a summer internship position. The student must be able to work 15-25 hours per week during the school year and full-time during the summer. Internship opportunities are available in a variety of areas within the Finance Department, including: Accounting, Corporate Audit, Real Estate, Tax,Treasury and Planning and Analysis. We will work with you to find the best placement based upon your education, skill set and preferences. You will be assigned projects equivalent to those of any financial analyst on the Finance staff and will be given the opportunity to manage a project from start to finish. As an intern, you will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups and their vision, business objectives, processes, systems, and services. You will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments. This opportunity requires in-person work in Omaha, NE during the summer months (mid-May through early August). Union Pacific provides relocation stipends and housing accommodations for students living more than 65 miles from Omaha. The estimated wage for this position is between $21 - $25 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Accountabilities Learn and perform core department business group work tasks, processes, and customer services Accountable for contributing to key functional areas within the Finance department such as journal entries, audit planning, tax compliance, and forecasting Offer operational support for department business group managers Develop and execute project action plans and perform team assignments Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company Assist with project management for various company initiatives and complete administrative tasks and special projects Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications - Required Must be a full-time student College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics Proficient verbal and written communication skills Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills Ability to work on-site at Union Pacific Headquarters in Omaha, NE Qualifications - Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher Intermediate computer skills and able to learn UP's Accounting systems and databases in order to successfully accomplish desired project results Advanced analytical and problem solving skills Physical and Mental Job Requirements This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions Work Conditions Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship 18 years of age or older Standard office work environment What we offer: A strengths-based, engagement-focused, and performance-oriented culture Ongoing learning and development On-site cafeteria (with employee discount), fitness center (free to employees), federal credit union, all in Union Pacific Center headquarters building in Omaha, Nebraska Competitive compensation Engaging activities with other interns and educational visits to Union Pacific facilities Background Check Investigation * State & Federal criminal history * Last 7 years of employment history to include military service * Education * Prior drug history * Professional license or certification, if applicable to role * Driving history, if applicable to role Please click here to review Union Pacific's policy regarding background investigations.
