Escopo Role: SAP Basis - Migration Specialist • Start Date: Immediate • Contract Duration: 1 year, with possibility of extension • Work Model: 100% Remote • Working Hours: 9h00 to 18h00 • Language: Fluent English is mandatory About the Position We are looking for an SAP Basis – Migration Specialist with a fully hands-on technical profile and practical expertise in SAP S/4HANA migrations and upgrades. This position is focused on migration execution and is not intended for professionals whose experience is primarily in coordination, management, theoretical activities, or basic support. Important Requirements • Strong practical, hands-on expertise in SAP migrations to S/4HANA and upgrades. • Up to 12 years of SAP Basis experience or an equivalent career level. • Advanced or fluent English for global communication and incident resolution. • Fully hands-on profile focused on the technical execution of migrations. Key Technical Responsibilities S/4HANA Conversions and Migrations • Execute readiness checks, CVI, and SDM/SDNI processes. • Perform custom code adaptation and compatibility validation. • Apply knowledge of the architectural differences between ECC and S/4HANA and the impact of in-memory computing. • Work with RISE with SAP architectural models, ECS operational procedures, and Cloud Managed Services governance. OS/DB and Heterogeneous Migrations • Execute DMO (Database Migration Option) with SUM for direct migrations and conversions to HANA and Cloud. • Perform classical OS/DB heterogeneous migrations, system copies, and landscape refreshes. Kernel Upgrade and System Lifecycle • Execute end-to-end kernel upgrades and distribute files across instances. • Work with database-dependent and database-independent files, patching, and hotfixes. • Manage kernel files, including disp+work ownership, permissions, and sticky bits configuration. SUM Execution • Work across the full SUM lifecycle, including phases, downtime, and shadow instances. • Perform SPDD and SPAU adjustments. • Troubleshoot upgrade issues, including incomplete transports and open update resolution. • Apply downtime optimization strategies and troubleshoot phase failures during migration cycles. Add-on Management and Package Installation • Install and maintain SAP add-ons through SPAM (SAP Patch Manager). • Apply knowledge of PBS (Protected Business System/software components). • Handle TOC (Transport of Copies) for transport management. • Apply knowledge of SPDD/SPAU behavior during add-on installations and how it differs from upgrade scenarios. SAP System Administration • Perform work process analysis using SM50, SM66, and operating system tools such as dpmon. • Conduct trace and debug activities at the work process level. • Perform lock analysis using SM12 and troubleshoot performance issues. • Manage system recovery involving open updates and downtime. SAP Architecture and Connectivity • Work with ABAP and Java stacks, dual-stack dependencies, ABAP/Java startup order, schema users, and UME. • Manage database connectivity using R3trans, DBACOCKPIT, and HANA Studio. • Troubleshoot system startup and database issues. Automation and Tooling • Develop and maintain Shell and Python automation scripts for upgrades, monitoring, and routine activities. • Build repeatable processes to reduce manual intervention. Critical Incident Handling – L3 • Act as the final escalation point for complex issues. • Perform root cause analysis and system recovery.
