Overview
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.
First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands-on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. Come help First Citizens build for the future!
The Allowance for Credit Losses group is a Risk Analytics team within the Finance organization at First Citizens Bank. This team plays a critical role in measuring, monitoring and forecasting credit risk across the Company’s lending portfolios through the Current Expected Credit Loss (“CECL”) framework. By combining data analytics, current macroeconomic insights, and business insight, the team helps determine the reserves the Bank maintains for future credit losses. Team members partner closely with Risk, Finance, Credit and business leaders across the organization, providing analysis that supports key management decisions, regulatory compliance, emerging risks, and the Bank’s quarterly financial reporting.
This internship will provide hands-on exposure to the end-to-end CECL process for the Company’s Commercial portfolio. Interns will gain insight on how large financial institutions, such as First Citizens Bank, assess credit risk, evaluate portfolio performance, and support quarterly reserve estimates that ultimately impact reported earnings. The role offers opportunities to work with large datasets, develop SQL and analytical skills, assist with model results analysis, and contribute to presentations used by senior management committees. This internship offers a unique opportunity to combine finance, analytics, and technology while gaining exposure to a highly visible quarterly process that supports reserve assessments, executive committee decisions, and reported earnings.
