Engineering Manager / Development Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering organizations, drive process improvements, oversee technical modernization initiatives, and build high-performing teams within a rapidly scaling SaaS environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple development teams and partnering closely with Product, Design, QA, Data, and Business stakeholders to maximize product value while building scalable engineering organizations.
The role may support one of several business-critical product domains, including:
- Enterprise Finance & Accounting Automation Platform
- Contract & Transaction Management Platform
- Data Platform & Enterprise Data Integration Services
These products are experiencing significant growth in users, features, and organizational complexity, creating exciting opportunities to influence both technical strategy and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Organization & Process Excellence
- Design and improve software development processes and project management methodologies
- Establish quality assurance frameworks and engineering documentation standards
- Drive technical debt reduction and modernization initiatives
- Optimize software development workflows using AI-assisted development practices
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
- Manage multiple engineering teams and drive execution against team objectives (OKRs/KPIs)
- Improve engineering productivity and product outcomes through effective prioritization
- Balance product quality, reliability, and delivery speed
- Ensure successful execution of engineering roadmaps
People Management
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development activities
- Lead hiring and interview processes
- Develop technical capabilities and leadership skills within the engineering organization
- Build a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA Engineers, Business teams, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate strategic decision-making across organizations
- Drive alignment between engineering investments and business outcomes
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders across the company

Required Qualifications
Engineering Background
- 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating web applications
- Experience with modern backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Go, C#, Python, or Node.js
- Experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Strong understanding of networking, databases, scalability, and performance optimization
- Understanding of microservices architecture
Delivery & Quality
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices including QA and security
Leadership Experience
- Experience leading software engineering teams of 5+ members or managing complex technical projects
- Experience with hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and team development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing Agile/Scrum teams
- Engineering coaching and mentoring experience
- Track record of improving engineering productivity and development processes
- Experience with organizational scaling and hiring initiatives
- Global or distributed team management experience
- Advanced cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- AI/ML product development experience
- Experience solving scalability challenges in large SaaS organizations
- Platform modernization and organizational transformation experience
