The role is approximately 70% software development and application support, and 30% infrastructure and DevOps administration. This allocation may shift temporarily around incidents, releases, and operational priorities.

- Maintain and modernise existing applications, including legacy solutions, while reducing technical debt
- Design and maintain APIs, integrations, and data exchange with other internal systems
- Maintain automated tests, static analysis, code-quality checks, and code-review practices
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using Jenkins, Git, and Gitea
- Lead application incident response, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Provide code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer to other developers
Infrastructure and DevOps (approx. 30%)
- Administer a Proxmox high-availability cluster, including Ceph/CephFS, ZFS, and containerised services
- Maintain key services such as PostgreSQL, Jenkins, Gitea, web servers, Icinga, Grafana, and Loki
- Support security, access management, patching, backups, recovery, and capacity planning
- Respond to infrastructure incidents and contribute to service restoration and root-cause analysis
- Improve monitoring, logging, automation, and deployment processes
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, including architecture, configurations, recovery procedures, and runbooks
Tech stack:
PHP 8.4, Laravel 12, Filament 5, PostgreSQL 15, Composer, Git, Gitea, Jenkins, PHPStan, Pest, Laravel Pint, Bruno, Sphinx, Doxygen, Proxmox HA, Ceph/CephFS, ZFS, Linux, containers, Icinga, Grafana, Loki, and OVH-hosted infrastructure
What you bring
- 8+ years of professional experience in software development and related ICT domains
- Proven experience as a senior developer or technical lead
- Strong production experience with PHP and modern frameworks, ideally Laravel
- Experience building and supporting business-critical, data-driven applications
- Strong knowledge of application architecture, APIs, integrations, and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Solid grasp of secure coding, automated testing, code review, and software quality practices
- Experience with Git-based workflows, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
- Practical systems administration experience across Linux, virtualisation, containers, storage, monitoring, backups, and security
- Experience supporting production infrastructure and handling complex incidents and root-cause analysis
- Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical and non-technical teams
- Professional proficiency in English
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Strongly preferred
- Experience with Proxmox, Ceph/CephFS, ZFS, Icinga, Grafana, Loki, and OVH-hosted infrastructure
Nice to have
- Experience with master data, product information, supply chain, or procurement systems
ATTENTION UPON DROPPING YOUR APPLICATION:
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR TUNGA PROFILE IS FULLY UPDATED
Please, IMMEDIATELY send an email to virtuous@tunga.io with subject 'Senior PHP/Laravel & DevOps – Your Name' sharing concrete examples of Laravel development and infrastructure work you've done in production.
We're specifically interested in:
- Laravel applications you've built or maintained: the scale, the stack (PostgreSQL, Filament if any), and key architecture decisions you made
- Testing and code quality practices you've introduced or maintained (Pest, PHPUnit, PHPStan, CI/CD with Jenkins or similar)
- Infrastructure you've administered hands-on: virtualisation (Proxmox, VMware, KVM), storage (Ceph, ZFS), Linux servers, and containers
- Monitoring and logging you've set up or run (Icinga, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, or similar)
- A production incident you led, either application or infrastructure: how you diagnosed it, the root cause, and what you changed afterwards
- Backup and recovery procedures you've designed or tested
Please point us to production work, not tutorials, side experiments, or course projects.
A short paragraph per example is enough: what you built, your specific role, the scale or context it operated in, and one or two concrete decisions you made.
