South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA) is a tuition-free, K–12 online public school. The school was launched in 2008–09 under contract to the South Carolina Connections Academy Charter School. SCCA is South Carolina’s very first virtual charter school, authorized by the Erskine Charter School District. The school serves students in grades K–12 from anywhere in South Carolina.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working from home in the state of South Carolina, the Academic Support Counselor will lead academic initiatives for our high school students. Through various curriculum and communication tools, they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes their instructional program.
The Academic Support Counselor will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Responsibilities
- Complete Course Placement for new enrolling high school students;
- Input High School Transcripts;
- Lead Dual Credit Enrollment registration process and serve as primary point of contact for college representatives;
- Provide support and guidance to NCAA interested students;
- Hold Individual Graduation Plan meetings and complete course selection for assigned students;
- Organize School Counseling Academic Initiatives, including Course Information documents, High Level course adjustments, Second Semester elective additions, and Summer School registration;
- Assist with course changes due to semester failures;
- Enter data into our online student information system and PowerSchool;
- Assist with College Tours, Career Day, or other high school counseling learning experiences;
- Serve as a short-term school counseling substitute in the event one is needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- South Carolina Counselor certificate
- Master's degree in School Counseling
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and web-based applications
- Customer-focused approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Willingness to travel on occasion for school events and state testing (may require occasional overnight travel)
- Willingness to work flexible summer hours for an additional stipend
- High degree of flexibility and independence

- High School Counseling experience
- Student Record Services: Parchment, PowerSchool
- South Carolina Regulations: Uniform Grading Policy and Activity Coding System
- South Carolina Colleges and Scholarships, NCAA
- Global Career Development Facilitator certification
