Show job description

Convergint is seeking an Account Executive to grow our fire alarm business across various vertical markets. This role offers the opportunity to develop end-user accounts and build strong relationships with electrical contractors (ECs) and general contractors (GCs), pursuing new construction, system upgrades, retrofits, and replacement projects.

The successful candidate will combine proactive business development, technical curiosity, and disciplined sales execution. We are looking for someone who understands customer needs, qualifies opportunities thoughtfully, and works closely with estimating and operations teams to develop practical solutions and deliver a strong customer experience. Experience in fire alarm installation, service, estimating, or project management is valuable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales plan that supports bookings, gross margin, and long-term account growth.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities across vertical markets such as healthcare, public sector, hospitality, industrial, and commercial markets through prospecting, referrals, networking, and existing customer relationships.

  • Build relationships with facility leaders, owners, electrical contractors, general contractors, consultants, and other decision-makers.

  • Position Convergint early in project planning by understanding customer priorities, budgets, schedules, and procurement requirements.

  • Conduct customer meetings and site walks to identify system needs, clarify scope, and uncover opportunities for upgrades, replacements, and ongoing service.

  • Qualify opportunities based on customer fit, funding, decision-making process, competitive position, and available resources.

  • Collaborate with estimators, technical specialists, and operations teams to develop accurate scopes, proposals, and pricing.

  • Present solutions in terms of customer outcomes, including life safety, reliability, business continuity, maintainability, and long-term value.

  • Lead proposal follow-up, negotiations, and closing activities, coordinating contract reviews and approvals with internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, realistic forecasts, and clear next steps for active opportunities.

  • Provide a thorough sales-to-operations handoff, documenting scope, assumptions, exclusions, commitments, and customer expectations.

  • Identify opportunities to connect customers with inspection, testing, maintenance, monitoring, and other service offerings.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in fire alarm or life safety sales, estimating, project management, installation, or service.

  • Working knowledge of fire alarm systems and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Experience developing business with end users and/or electrical and general contractors.

  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities, prioritize effectively, and coordinate with internal teams.

  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • A demonstrated record of achieving sales goals or delivering successful projects and customer outcomes.

  • Familiarity with construction documents, specifications, bidding processes, and project schedules is helpful.

  • Healthcare, public sector, or commercial market experience is preferred.

  • Relevant industry training or NICET certification is a plus.

Candidates with a strong fire alarm operations background and the ability and motivation to transition into sales are encouraged to apply.
