Account Manager, Microsoft Cloud
💰 £50,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, with a realistic OTE of £110,000
📍 City of London, four days a week in the office with flexibility when you are out seeing customers
Company & role
This opportunity sits with a fast growing Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider delivering Microsoft cloud services, licensing and support to mid market and enterprise customers. They hold the full set of Microsoft Solutions Partner designations and have built their UK presence quickly over the last few years.
The account management function is being levelled up. A new leader is joining alongside several account managers, and the reason is a good one. They have built up a very large base of established, spending customers, far more than the current team can give proper attention to, so coverage has had to be reactive. The plan is fewer accounts per person, deeper relationships and a genuinely strategic approach to growing them.
You will own a large portfolio of mid market Microsoft cloud customers, with a mix of some larger accounts. These are live, spending customers with renewals already in the diary, so the job is to win those renewals, then find the whitespace and services opportunities that nobody has had the time to go after. This is a private sector portfolio, selling to IT decision makers from IT manager through to C suite.
Why This Role Stands Out
- You are walking into a desk of established, spending customers rather than building a patch from scratch
- The whitespace is real rather than theoretical. These accounts have been served reactively, so there is a lot that has never been properly explored
- Renewals give you a built in compelling event and a strong retention base, so you are not starting cold every quarter
- Licensing is the way in, not the whole job. The growth story sits in services, security, backup and wider solutions, which makes this more interesting than a pure renewals desk
- £110,000 is a realistic OTE rather than a headline number, and given how little these accounts have been grown, there is real room to go beyond it
- You are joining as the function is rebuilt, with new leadership and several account managers coming in together, so you are part of the change rather than inheriting someone else's
- Genuine progression mapped towards senior or enterprise account management
- A real sales floor in the City rather than a diary full of video calls, with most of your customers a short walk away and the rest of London on your doorstep
- Exposure to the full Microsoft stack in a business where Microsoft is the core of what they sell, not a side line
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow a defined portfolio of mid market Microsoft cloud customers as their main commercial point of contact
- Drive retention, renewal and expansion across Microsoft 365, Azure and CSP subscriptions, with Q1 the heaviest renewal period
- Move accounts from reactive to proactive through account planning, whitespace mapping and structured growth conversations
- Identify and sell expansion beyond licensing, including services, security, backup and wider solution areas
- Build relationships across multiple stakeholders, from IT managers and procurement through to directors and CIOs
- Prepare proposals, business reviews and commercial discussions, supporting negotiation where needed
- Work with sales support, marketing, professional services, customer success and technical teams to deliver a joined up customer experience
- Keep CRM records, pipeline and forecasting accurate and current
Ideal Experience
- At least two years in account management, sales or a client facing commercial role within B2B technology or cloud services
- Microsoft ecosystem experience is strongly preferred, ideally across Microsoft 365, Azure or CSP, so you can hit the ground running with licensing conversations
- A strong seller from an adjacent cloud or SaaS background will still be considered, provided you can clearly evidence what you have executed rather than just described
- Experience managing mid market accounts with multiple stakeholders and some enterprise style deal complexity
- Track record of renewals, upsell and cross sell, with real numbers behind it
- Familiarity with Microsoft licensing models, CSP renewals and consumption based conversations
- Confident running customer presentations, proposals and business reviews
- Organised and disciplined with CRM accuracy, reporting and forecasting
- Happy being in the City office four days a week
- MS 900 is desirable, and AB 900 is a useful addition
