An established accounting and business advisory firm is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Accountant based in South East Queensland to join its existing distributed team.

This is a hands-on, compliance-focused opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing quality work, supporting business clients and continuing to develop their technical skills, without the daily commute.

The role is remote following an initial one- to two-week induction at the firm’s Chinchilla office.

The opportunity

You’ll work across a diverse business client portfolio, including primary production, retail, commercial, investment and professional services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and associated individuals.
• Preparing BAS and IAS and supporting ongoing business tax compliance.
• Assisting with tax planning and responding to client queries.
• Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office and working closely with experienced senior team members.

There is no walk-in individual tax-return workload. The focus is on business clients and their associated entities and individuals.

While compliance is the core of the position, you’ll also have opportunities to gain exposure to strategic business planning and estate planning.

About you

You’ll ideally bring around three to five years’ Australian public practice experience, with confidence preparing financial statements and business tax returns.

Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation, attention to detail and clear communication skills are important. You’ll be comfortable organising your workload, working independently and staying connected with a remote team.

Primary production or agribusiness client experience will be highly regarded.

CA or CPA qualifications are welcome but not essential. Experienced bookkeepers with sound Australian tax knowledge and relevant financial statement and tax-return preparation experience are also encouraged to apply.
