About Us: Inca Digital is a veteran-owned data and intelligence company specializing in digital-asset analytics for exchanges, financial institutions, regulators, and blockchain ecosystems. We track blockchain transactions, liquidity movements, and illicit finance to help our clients identify risk and enhance transparency. Operating as a fast-paced, remote-first company, we leverage an asynchronous-first workflow, minimize time spent on meetings, and believe in open debate and logic over authority. By joining us, you will work alongside a sharp, cross-functional team that includes intelligence analysts, defense veterans, data engineers, and quant researchers.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this role, you will take ownership of daily general ledger operations, manage semi-monthly payroll processing, oversee AP/AR functions, and partner directly with the Financial Controller on month-end close and corporate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote, and asynchronous environment, with strong GAAP knowledge and a desire to take ownership of full-cycle accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting, ensure accurate transaction recording, and assist in maintaining overall GAAP compliance.
- Own key assigned areas in the month-end and year-end close processes, meeting tight reporting deadlines.
- Prepare and post journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
- Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and deferred revenue.
Payroll & Benefits Accounting
- Manage bi-monthly payroll processing accurately and on schedule, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Coordinate payroll adjustments, new hires, status changes, and state tax withholding setup across remote states.
- Reconcile payroll registers against general ledger accounts and support annual payroll tax reporting.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee AP operations, including invoice coding, approval workflows, and vendor disbursements.
- Manage AR invoicing, customer collections, and revenue application.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a routine basis.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist the Financial Controller in preparing monthly management reporting packages and financial statements.
- Support budget creation, track department spending, and perform variance analyses.
- Compile documentation and schedules to support internal reviews and external annual audits.
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Operations teams to streamline internal processes and automation.
Qualifications & Skills
-
- Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate setting.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Technical Skills:
- Solid working knowledge of general ledger ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (pivot tables, complex formulas like VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, conditional logic).
- Experience handling semi-monthly payroll processing systems (e.g., Gusto, Rippling, ADP).
- Functional Knowledge:
- Strong foundational understanding of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and financial reporting standard workflows.
- Experience with government contracting, project accounting, or digital assets/crypto accounting is a strong plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous team environments.
- Strong organizational and task-prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision
