Accountant and bookkeeper for a small Swedish and Danish group, part time, remote, Fortnox

HAVN builds and runs small clusters of design cabins in the Swedish and Nordic countryside. Our first site is ten cabins in Arvidsjaur, Lapland, open all year, and we're now planning the next sites. We're a small, founder-led team, and we're looking for an experienced accountant who keeps our books and helps us make the right financial decisions as we grow.

The companies

• Havn OpCo AB runs the cabins. Guests book through Airbnb, Booking.com, our own website and our local operating partner.
• Havn PropCo AB owns the cabins and rents them to OpCo.
• A Danish holding company owns both Swedish companies, and a second, small Danish holding company sits above it. The second has very few transactions.

The volume: about 90 bank lines a month across the four companies

• About 40 are the same every month: software subscriptions, salaries, the rent between the two Swedish companies, loan instalments and bank fees.
• About 25 are booking payouts from Airbnb, Booking.com and Stripe, each with its own payout statement, plus one monthly statement from our operating partner.
• About 25 are one-off, mostly card payments for travel and supplies in the Danish holding company.
• Six business bank accounts in SEK, EUR and DKK.
• Every week we give you the bank lines matched to their invoices and receipts, and the booking income summarised by channel, so you work from a clean starting point.

What you'll do

• Book all transactions for all four companies in Fortnox every week, with the receipt attached to each one.
• Pay the week's supplier payments every week.
• Reconcile the bank accounts weekly, and tell us straight away when a receipt or invoice is missing.
• Do the month-end close and send us a monthly income statement and balance sheet for each company.
• Prepare and file the quarterly VAT returns for the two Swedish companies. That covers 12 per cent accommodation VAT, 25 per cent VAT and reverse charge on foreign suppliers.
• Raise the monthly rent invoice between the two Swedish companies.
• Prepare and file the annual accounts and tax returns for the two Swedish companies.
• Keep the Danish companies' books current so their annual reports can be prepared from them.
• Advise us on the accounting side of our decisions, including equity and intercompany questions.
• Tell us when something doesn't look right. We'd much rather be challenged than have something booked quietly.

What we're looking for

• You live in Sweden and work fluently in Swedish and English.
• Senior experience with small Swedish companies, including VAT, year-end and annual reports.
• An authorised accountant (auktoriserad redovisningskonsult), or equivalent experience.
• You're experienced in Fortnox.
• Experience with property or real estate companies is a strong plus.
• Experience with Danish bookkeeping is a plus, but not required.
• You're reliable and you keep to dates. A weekly 15-30 minute check-in is part of the job.

What we offer

• A part-time, remote role, starting as soon as possible.
• A fixed fee of EUR 1,500 a month excluding VAT, all in, for about 25 to 30 hours a month. Some months are more, some less, and winter is busier than summer.
• The fee covers everything above, including the annual accounts and tax returns for the two Swedish companies. Because the books are kept current every month, year-end is just preparing and filing the reports.
• Room to grow: we plan to add more sites over the next few years, and the finance role will grow with them.
