We are looking for an Accounting Clerk who is responsible for the accurate and timely entry of financial transactions in support of the month-end close process. This role is primarily responsible for booking vendor invoices into the company's procurement system (Procurify) and routing them to the appropriate manager for review and approval, as well as preparing recurring month-end journal entries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with high volumes of transactional data in a fast-paced accounting environment.
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
- Book vendor invoices into Procurify accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring correct coding by vendor, entity, department, and general ledger account.
- Route booked invoices to the appropriate manager for review and approval and follow up to ensure timely turnaround.
- Track outstanding invoices and approvals and escalate delays that could impact month-end close or vendor payment terms.
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including prepaid expense amortization schedules and entries, depreciation and amortization journal entries for fixed and intangible assets, intercompany journal entries and support intercompany reconciliations.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for recurring journal entries in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Assist with reconciling sub-ledger activity (e.g., accounts payable, prepaids, fixed assets) to the general ledger.
- Respond to internal inquiries regarding invoice status, coding, and approval routing.
- Support the accounting team with ad hoc data entry, filing, and month-end close tasks as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve data entry accuracy and efficiency within Procurify and other accounting systems.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 2-5 years of experience working within an accounting department, with a focus on data entry and transaction processing.
- Basic understanding of IFRS accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of accounting and/or procurement software (experience with Procurify and NetSuite considered an asset).
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail when processing high volumes of transactions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines around month-end close.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general comfort learning new accounting/ERP systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for liaising with managers and vendors.
- Ability to work independently and reliably in a remote work environment.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
- Competitive compensation ($65,000 to 80,000 CAD) including discretionary bonus
- Unlimited Vacation Days
- Remote-first team with a flexible work environment focused on results
- Opportunity to work at the forefront of an innovative, fast-growing industry
- Collaborative, low-ego culture with a strong execution mindset
- Annual company offsites to connect, collaborate, and recharge
- Birthdays off to celebrate your day your way!
- Supportive parental leave policy designed to prioritize family and well-being
