Accounting Lead - Record to Report (R2R)

We're looking for an Accounting Lead – Record to Report (R2R) to join our team. You will oversee accounting quality, controls, and process delivery across a wide range of entities or a key area within accounting operations. This role provides leadership on complex accounting topics, drives cross-functional resolution of high-risk issues, represents the team in audit and management discussions, and ensures that close processes, controls, and team output meet company standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the monthly close cycle for assigned entities or process areas, ensuring completeness, quality, and on-time delivery of all critical close activities
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, variance explanations, and other close deliverables prepared by team accountants, in accordance with segregation-of-duties requirements
• Examine complex accruals, prepayments, unusual transactions, and manual postings, challenging underlying assumptions to confirm appropriate accounting treatment
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for matters involving postings, close blockers, system interface issues, missing supporting documentation, and accounting judgment calls within your area of responsibility
• Maintain adherence to internal control frameworks, SOX-related obligations, and documented close procedures
• Oversee reconciliation activities between source systems and SAP, confirming that material discrepancies are investigated and resolved
• Partner with local controllers, local accountants, accounts payable, treasury, tax, and other relevant stakeholders on close-related topics, accounting matters, and process updates
• Represent the accounting function during internal and external audit engagements, ensuring consistent responses and audit-ready documentation
• Guide and develop junior accountants by reviewing their work and supporting the growth of their technical knowledge and close discipline
• Lead initiatives focused on process improvement, standardization, and testing of new tools, reports, and workflow enhancements

Requirements

• Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting, along with Colombian Public Accountant certification
• At least five years of experience in related finance functions such as General Ledger, record-to-report, financial reporting, and audit, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory or team lead role
• Practical experience within Corporate Finance or a comparable support function, paired with solid understanding of finance processes, general business operations, and organizational workflows
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to identify issues, prioritize them appropriately, communicate clearly, and build and execute resolution plans
• Robust knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS standards, with demonstrated ability to apply them in complex or non-standard scenarios
• Experience driving process management, improvement initiatives, and workflow optimization
• Effective communication abilities paired with working English fluency at B2 level or higher, supporting clear understanding of business requirements and their translation into agentic architecture frameworks

Nice to have

• Prior exposure to shared services or multi-entity accounting environments spanning multiple countries or business units
• Background working with a Big Four or similarly recognized audit firm
• Hands-on familiarity with SAP or comparable ERP systems used for financial reporting and reconciliation
